Whenever the Los Angeles Lakers are in action at the Staples Center, many celebrities flock to the game. Although players don’t often get the chance to interact with them, Lakers star LeBron James got his moment last night.

While the Lakers battled the Heat, the four-time MVP was forced to be on the sidelines due to injury. But that gave him the opportunity to talk to Hollywood actor Jason Sudeikis. The 46-year-old’s popularity shot up recently after his Emmy Award winning role as Ted Lasso. Sudeikis, who started his career in improv comedy, had LeBron in splits as they interacted courtside.

Although he may not have been able to watch LeBron in action on the court, Sudeikis would be happy to have interacted with him again. Both Ted Lasso fans and NBA fans were stoked about this link-up during last night’s game. Some of the fans joked about how the Lakers needed coaching from Lasso following coach Frank Vogel’s recent struggles.

Throwback to LeBron James’ appearance on SNL with Jason Sudeikis

Before being a Hollywood actor, Sudeikis rose up the ranks through his improv comedy. He joined Saturday Night Live in 2003 as a sketch writer and then also made occasional appearances. One of his notable ones came in a sketch which featured LeBron back in 2007.

Titled Read to Achieve, the four minute sketch is a hilarious interaction between James and Sudeikis, who are trying to film a PSA video. Sudeikis takes a shot at LeBron for not having a ring, and then it ends in a one on one between the two. While LeBron wins it easily, last year Sudeikis revealed that he actually scored on the Lakers star during rehearsal.

He said, “I went down the left side. I went up and then reversed it and came underneath and kissed it off the glass for a little spin and it went in.”

Sudeikis then mentions how James’ best friend Maverick Carter had a great reaction, followed by Bron showing love to him. Although that happened over a decade ago, those interactions could have been the start of their friendship which is still going strong today.
