Long Time Rival Paul Pierce Admits LeBron James is One of the Scariest Players to Guard in the NBA

One of the best players of all-time, Lakers star LeBron James, is a tough man to defend. With over 34000 career points, he has proven to be unstoppable when he gets going. So when former NBA champion Paul Pierce was listing out the scariest players to guard in the league currently, LeBron was unsurprisingly the first name.

Pierce said, “On any given night, he can posterize you at the age of 35. Still winning championships. You don’t want to end up on the waiting spots for LeBron’s posters. That’s a scary thought right there.”

While Pierce says that the list is in no particular order, he has had many personal encounters against LeBron to not mention him first. They have played 69 games (regular season + playoffs) against each other, with LeBron coming out on top 35 times. During these games, LeBron has scored over 2000 points, while averaging 29 points per game.

LeBron remains Pierce’s biggest rival. While earlier he let this rivalry cloud his judgment (when he said LeBron was not top 5 all-time), but prior to the Lakers 2020 NBA title win, he had said that if LeBron wins it, he will place him 2nd in his all-time rankings. No more bad blood?

LeBron James: Year 18 and still going strong

Heading into his 18th season in the league, it is amazing how he still ranks as one of the scariest players in the league. He will turn 36 in two months, but he doesn’t look like he’s going to stop anytime soon.

As his career has progressed, LeBron has got smarter, and now uses his IQ to control games. He was a raw scorer earlier. But now he is a floor general, dictating play but still maintaining his intensity on the defensive end.

Now that he has Anthony Davis as his partner, his job has become easier. Davis was forced to create his own shot at the Pelicans, but at the Lakers, LeBron is unlocking his true potential. He always knows where to find Davis, and the 2012 #1 overall pick always delivers. Their chemistry on the court is so strong that they are arguably the best duo in the league.

With the NBA season starting in a few months, fans will be waiting to see King James back in action.
