In an era where star players team up with others to ring chase, Damian Lillard is an anomaly. Since he was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers back in 2012, Lillard has always been committed to the city.

Every time a rumor pops up about him leaving, he immediately shuts it down. Last night on Twitter he said, “Issa no for me” when a fan asked him if he would move to the Suns.

Damian Lillard: The Portland Hero

Despite Portland being a small market team, Lillard has been doing his best to take the team to the next level. The only All-Star he has played alongside was LaMarcus Aldridge. But at that time, the rest of the team wasn’t too good. Now with CJ McCollum as his partner, the duo has been a menace offensively to almost every team in the league.

Lillard has been carrying the team for a few years now, but he has been unable to replicate his form in the playoffs consistently. Last year, he was brilliant in the first round against the Thunder. But in the second round, he was nowhere to be seen. Although McCollum carried them to the Conference Finals, Lillard blanked again in the Conference Finals, as the Warriors swept them 4-0.

This season, he had an underwhelming series against the Lakers too. He averaged just 24 points per game before getting injured in Game 4. Although this was the best team he has had in years, it was still far from being a contending team.

Will Lillard win a ring?

Recently, Lillard starred in a FootLooker commercial called “no rings.” In that, he made jokes about former players who haven’t won the title before, and it starred Hall of Famers like Karl Malone and Chris Webber.

Later a fan replied to that video and said that Lillard would end up in that same category. Dame replied, “If I don’t win one… we will re-do the commercial and I’ll be one of them.”

There is a growing possibility that Lillard’s loyalty will leave him without a ring. But for a player of his quality, he doesn’t need a ring to define his greatness. But without a doubt, every neutral fan would love to see him win one.
