The Brooklyn Nets returned home recently after a sweep against the Toronto Raptors. Recently they made headlines after rumors of them approaching five-time NBA champion coach Gregg Popovich surfaced. Nets GM Sean Marks has finally addressed these rumors now.
“Pop has a job; so I’ll say that,” Marks said on WFAN. “And, obviously we all know he’s an amazing, amazing coach, and to be quite frank, an even better leader. So, I’ll let Pop continue to coach for the Spurs. He owes it to them and they owe it to him. I’m sure he’s quite happy there.”
The 71-year-old has been the Head Coach at the San Antonio Spurs for 24 seasons now and is also the President of the team. So the move always seemed unlikely. Although the Spurs may not be as great as they were, the legacy that Pop has built in San Antonio is second to none.

Promising future ahead for Brooklyn Nets?
Not only do the Nets have an exciting core, but they also two superstars to pair with them. Alongside Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, and Jarrett Allen, they have Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to complete a title-contending starting lineup. Along with a coach that can use them well, they could be one of the best teams in the East.
One of the biggest names linked to the vacancy at Brooklyn is Clippers’ assistant coach Tyronn Lue. He has already worked with two Nets players, Kyrie Irving and Joe Harris at Cleveland. Sports Illustrated had reported back in March that Irving wanted Lue at the Nets. And now Harris has praised him too.

“The way he was able to relate with the players, especially just day-to-day, was pretty unique in terms of a coaching perspective,” Harris told The Post earlier. “I always liked that about him, just his ability to jell and mesh with everybody.”

Despite being swept in the Playoffs, the Nets had an impressive performance in the seeding games without their best players. So the upcoming season will be promising for this exciting team. They will compete with the Bucks, Raptors, and Celtics for that number one seed next season and will be a powerhouse in the Playoffs too.
