The Brooklyn Nets carried their excellent form into tonight’s game, as they beat the LA Clippers. It was a narrow two-point win for the Nets, their 20th of the season. In the absence of Kevin Durant, James Harden stepped up once again and had a 37-point performance.

He was brilliant throughout the game, but his most clutch play was a flop in the end. Kawhi Leonard drove to the rim to bring the Clippers level, with Harden defending him.

The Nets star then flopped, and to the dismay of the Clippers, the referee called an offensive foul. That sealed the game for the Nets, and the Clippers walked away with their second loss in three games.

Although the Clippers didn’t protest about the call later, fans on Twitter were not amused by Harden. The 2018 MVP is already infamous for his flopping on offense, so this is a first for him as well.

Is James Harden the best player on the Nets squad?

When Harden reunited with Durant on the Nets, there was no question about who was the better player. Despite coming off an injury, fans felt Durant was still the best player on the team. He is currently leading the Nets in scoring, which is another argument for him.

While Durant has more points, Harden is averaging more rebounds, assists, and steals than him. The Nets are 6-3 when Harden leads them in Durant’s absence, and 5-5 when Durant leads without Harden. Although that isn’t enough to prove who is a better player, it is a reminder that Harden is equally important to the Nets as Durant.

Brooklyn Nets closing in on the Philadelphia 76ers

Tonight, the Nets won their 20th game of the season, pushing their record to 20-12. They had another favorable result for them, as the Raptors beat the 76ers, who have been holding the top spot for weeks. The Nets are now just .5 games behind the 76ers who have a 20-11 record.

If they can maintain their momentum, they will soon claim the #1 seed. They are already the best team in the East on paper, and unless the 76ers improve, the Nets will ascend to the top with ease.
