In the Orlando bubble, the Portland Trail Blazers and the LA Clippers players engaged in some beef. It started with the Clippers making fun of Damian Lillard after his missed free throws. And it ended when the Clippers were sent home and Dame and CJ McCollum had the time of their lives making jokes about them on Twitter.

During a recent interview, McCollum was asked about what he feels about the Clippers, from making jokes on them to playing against them.

He said, “I don’t really care (about) playing against them. It’s just another game. They’re a good team and we enjoy competing against each other. I enjoy making jokes, making light of the situation, especially when shots are taken in my direction. It’s just another team honestly, and they got a lot they need to figure out personally from within.

“I didn’t find them a villa, but I have some readily available in the event that they needed. Great places that I think they would truly enjoy. Personally, I have enjoyed a lot and would love to pass them on if they want.”

Looking back at the Blazers-Clippers beef

During their fifth seeding game, the Blazers played the Clippers. In the last 18 seconds, the Blazers were down 117-118 and Lillard was at the line. But the career 88% FT shooter missed both, and then the Clippers ended up winning the game. On the sidelines, Clippers guard Patrick Beverley mocked him by doing the “Dame Time” celebration and rolled over laughing.

Then in the post-game interview, Lillard reminded Beverley and Paul George that he sent them home in the playoffs in back-to-back years. Then the three of them went at each other in the Bleacher Report Instagram post of Lillard’s quote.

Later, when the Clippers blew a 3-1 lead against the Nuggets and got knocked out, Dame and CJ had a field day on Twitter.

Then a few weeks back, Beverley responded saying that he can’t be mad at the jokes and has to accept it.

Both teams now have work to do in this off-season. The Clippers need to find a replacement for Montrezl Harrell, who could be on his way out in Free agency. The Blazers need to get some solid scorers and bolster their wing depth. They will have to fight harder to make the playoffs with the Western Conference getting tougher.
