Considering his successive injury-ridden seasons, Golden State Warriors’ star Klay Thompson hasn’t played since 2019. But that didn’t stop him from being part of the game when the Warriors hosted the Pistons on Saturday night. He was part of the broadcast team and had a memorable debut.
After the game, Pistons’ Rodney McGruder exchanged words with Warriors’ Juan Toscano-Anderson before being taken away by team officials. As he saw this unfolding, Thompson took a shot at McGruder and said, “This dude might be out the league soon, he’s probably mad about that… He’s over here trying to start something like he’s a good player or something. It’s like, bro, get out of here…”

Should Klay Thompson have refrained from those statements?
While every Warriors fan found that hilarious, McGruder’s teammate Wayne Ellington was annoyed. He said, “I seen that junk. It’s crazy. First of all, I think it’s very unprofessional and not class for someone to attack Rodney’s professional career the way it was attacked.”
There is no doubt that Thompson has a resume almost every player in the league would love to have, but that insult seemed a bit too.

Can the Warriors continue their form?
The Warriors beat the Pistons in their last game, which was a good response following their loss against the Suns. They have now won thrice in four games and will be hoping they can carry this momentum into tomorrow’s big clash against the Celtics.
The C’s lost their last game against the Lakers after a last-second missed shot. They have won just twice in seven games now, and the Warriors will aim to pile onto their misery.

The Warriors’ hopes will lie on two-time MVP Stephen Curry, who had a game-winning performance last time too. Kelly Oubre Jr returning to form will also be important for them. Oubre and Andrew Wiggins will have to be at their defensive best to stop Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who have been on fire this season.

That matchup could potentially decide the game, and it will be a big win for the Warriors before they head out on a four-game road trip.
