According to the latest report by Keith Pompey of Philadelphia Inquirer, Harden is also open to relocation. No matter how unlikely a Simmons-Harden trade sounds, it is quite likely to happen. This is because Harden shares a close relationship with Daryl Morey, president of the organization. Moreover, Harden also knows Michael Rubin on a personal basis, who happens to be the co-owner of the franchise.

The Ben Simmons trade talks and rumors have been very tumultuous. The 76ers have been engaged in talks with various players, and different teams. However, there is one candidate that seems to stand out; James Harden.

Harden has not yet committed to an extension in the Brooklyn Nets. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. Additionally, he seems to have a close relationship with Morey and Michael Rubin.

The entire NBA community is aware of this. It has been reported that the Sixers are waiting for Harden to become available. Either through trade or free agency.

CNBC’s Jabari young reported about this incident. “In connecting the dots, remember the convo I had with Lil Baby last month. Asked him who introduced him to 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin…. Told me James Harden …at that point, figure the relationships with Rubin, Morey would drive this.” Adding, “Also, don’t forget about D’Antoni.”

Trading Simmons is the 76ers’ last bargaining chip. They must get it right to protect the future of their organization. Consequently, it seems that the relationship Harden has with Michael Rubin will prove to be very influential in his decisions for next season.
