The Brooklyn Nets have a solid roster heading into the upcoming season. They have a stable core already with two superstars, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, leading them. They also have the 19th pick in the 2020 Draft, which helps them to add another young talent.
Draftee Jalen Smith is one of the prospects the Nets gave a workout. And he is hyped about the prospect of teaming up with Durant.
“Just being able to play with KD, that’s a dream come true,” Smith said during a press conference. “Obviously, growing up, watching him so much and pretty much just learning from him — being the same size as him — just being able to get so much from him that he’s done in the league and continue to work and just compete against him would be tremendous and a good thing for me and my skills.”

Will Smith be able to team up with Kevin Durant?
After returning to Maryland for his sophomore year, Smith helped the Terrapins to finish first in the Big Ten Conference. He averaged 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and also shot an impressive 36.8% from deep.

During the press conference, he also appreciated the Nets franchise. From the coaches to the GM. “Brooklyn Nets were probably one of the first interviews I had,” Smith said. “They’re a great organization. I liked all the coaches. They were fun and upfront with me and even joking with me a lot. It was pretty much (everybody), a lot of people, I would say the GM and coaches.”
Although news emerged of him eyeing a move to the Nets, it seems unlikely. According to multiple mock drafts, Smith could be a late lottery pick. Teams like the Celtics desperately need a big man and they could pull the trigger on him. They have the 14th pick and the Nets could miss out on him since they have the 19th pick.

Even if he falls to them, the Nets already have two established big men on the roster, DeAndre Jordan and Jarrett Allen. They also have youngster Nicolas Claxton who is fighting for minutes. So the chances of them drafting another big man are slim.
Irrespective of which team he goes to, Smith looks like he can be a solid piece to any team he ends on. His post play, work on the glass and his jump shot are all impressive and show a lot of promise.
