Led by Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers triumphed over the Utah Jazz in the final game of the day. Coming off a bad loss against the Toronto Raptors, the Lakers were determined from the start to do better. Davis was the main man for the Lakers, after having a monstrous 42 point game along with 12 rebounds. As Davis went on this rampage, he achieved something only Kobe Bryant had done in the last decade.
Davis scored 23 points in the 1st half tonight, making this the 20th time this season he has scored 20+ in a half. He became the first Laker to achieve this since Bryant, who did it back in 2012-13. Post-game, he expressed the honor to be mentioned along with the 5-time NBA champion.
“I just got chills,” Davis told Rachel Nichols of ESPN. “It’s tough always talking about him but to be in a category with [Kobe Bryant], it means a lot. I know he’s looking down on us and cheering us on, so we want to do it for him. It’s an honor to even be mentioned with his name.”

Anthony Davis performs highlight play of the day
The best part of his game tonight was his perimeter shooting. He shot 4/8 from three and looked very comfortable from deep. And the highlight play of the game was Davis’ stepback three. Despite two-time DPOY Rudy Gobert guarding him, Davis didn’t care. He caught the Frenchman off-guard with a smooth stepback and earned a foul as he released the shot. What followed was a classic Mike Breen “Bang!” and a chance at a four-point play.
When the best players have a bad game, they follow it up with a great game. Tonight, Davis showed why he is the cream of the crop in the league. Besides, Coach Frank Vogel will be hoping Davis can carry this form into the playoffs and get them their first title since 2010.
