Barely a month ago, the LSU Tigers made history. For the first time in the college’s history, the women’s basketball team were national champions. Led by a double-double machine, Angel Reese and Alexis Morris, they beat Iowa State, home to one of the nation’s best college players, Caitlin Clark. Wild celebrations and big decisions followed their win. However, it is also essential to prepare for the coming season. Coach Kim Mulkey’s newest recruit not only has shot up LSU as favorites, but also shocked some of the biggest celebrities.

LSU’s hope is simple: they want to defend their crown. The newest face of LSU is surely capable of taking them to those heights, being a former student of the late great Kobe Bryant.

Hailey Van Lith just transferred to LSU. A former cardinal, her college resume is enough justification for just why this move might make LSU invincible. As a junior in Louisville, she had a career season putting up 19.7 points, and 3.2 assists per game. In her sophomore season, she was named the Most Oustanding Player after leading the Cardinals to the Final Four.

She has the handles, a crafty finish at the rim, and a silky-smooth jump shot. But more than anything, she is a product of the infamous Mamba Mentality. As a high schooler, Bryant was amazed by Van Lith’s work ethic and play style. She trained with him and Gianna Bryant and picked up the key tools to be the offensive force she is today.
