Michael Jordan was always a menace. Not only in the NBA but also in college basketball. The man was levels ahead of any other player. It was evident from the start that MJ was a type of player who could change the course of games single-handedly. His impact always influenced the result of the game.

MJ averaged 17.7 points on 54% shooting per game in his 3 years at the University of North Carolina. In 3 seasons with the Tar Heels, MJ played under coach Dean Smith and won one national championship.

The only championship in three years was a special one, as MJ had the last game-winning points. Patrick Ewing’s side Georgetown Hoyas were 62-61 in the lead before MJ scored a jumper to make it 62-63 in UNC’s favor with 15 seconds remaining on the clock. MJ’s clutch points won the game and title for the Tar Heels.

The 1982 title was the only championship with MJ on their team. UNC has won 6 national championships in its history. This year they aimed to get their hands on the championship for the first time since 2009.

Hubert Davis invites Michael Jordan to play!

Before the much-awaited clash between North Carolina Tar Heels and Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA finals, UNC coach Hubert Davis had a special invite for Michael Jordan.

Hubert Davis would obviously have loved it if one of the greatest ever to do it was in his team for the final. However, MJ is rarely present for the Hornets games and it was highly unlikely that he would have attended the game. This might be purely superstitious, but that’s what happened. MJ did not make an appearance, although he surely would have cheered and rooted for his former college team to win.

It was a tough battle for the title as UNC lost to the Jayhawks in a disheartening fashion. The intense matchup ended 72-69 in Kansas’ favor. It was a special moment for the Kansas Jayhawks. It was the fourth title and their first since 2008. After a wait of 14 years, Kansas finally won the title in an amazing season.

Michael Jordan did not attend the game, but he obviously would have kept an eye on it just like the rest of us. It was an inspiring season from UNC and MJ would be proud of his former side for a terrific run.
