He has often spoken about the importance of his parents in raising him, and his value system. But along with that, Shaq is also known to be very empathetic to people’s problems.

One way that Shaq shows his empathy outside just tokenistic stances is by reflecting his belief through action. Shaq recently had spoken about how important it is to him to give back to kids around the country.

“I’ve always had my mom and dad. What if I didn’t? How does that feel? If we can bring awareness to the situation and try to help them make change, that’s what I’m always about. When I say I’m lucky, [it] could’ve been me.”

Shaq was spotted giving out gifts to kids in Atlanta, Georgia, for the 19th iteration of his Shaq-a-Claus event. Gestures like this show that the giant basketball player has a very gentle heart. Giving back to the community is the best thing a sports person can do, and Shaq is doing so, especially in one of the hardest times in modern human history.

Shaquille O’Neal may have found a lot of success in basketball, but he never let that limit him. While spreading joy through the court is what many consider enough, Shaq doesn’t. While he deserves credit for doing what he does, it is also important to know that many players of this magnitude do this in local communities.

However, Shaq is different. He has supported many noble causes throughout his career; He has made active donations to help out certain kids go through college. He has also donated a lot of money to foundations like the ‘Free The Children’ foundation or the ‘Boys and Girls Club Of America.
