Charles Barkley is in no mood to tolerate the undeserving attention of teams he considers being over-hyped. And on similar lines, he has continued bashing the LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors. Notably, Barkley had raised his issue with the two teams getting unnecessary limelight ahead of their play-in tournament. The Philadelphia 76ers legend has yet again slammed the fanbase of both teams. It is worth mentioning that the Warriors were ousted from the NBA championship race by the Sacramento Kings in the play-in tournament. And now the Lakers are on the verge of a similar fate, trailing 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs.
Charles Barkley took this as an opportunity to go brutally honest with his opinion of the fans of the two franchises. And he went creative with his roast as he used an upgraded version of the Turks & Caicos meme, a joke that has served its purpose of dealing with teams that get eliminated from the playoffs. “I just want to say all you people kissing up to the Lakers and the Warriors all year, talking about they gone make a run. You know where they gone run they a** to? The Bahamas. Sunday morning,” Barkley said, appearing on Inside the NBA.

However, Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal countered the ex-Sixers star’s comments. Shaq called him “petty” which led to a friendly banter involving an exchange of the same word for each other. But this did not stop Barkley from stating, “The Lakers and the Warriors both stink.” It is worth mentioning that this is not the first instance this season when Barkley has bashed the two franchises.
Charles Barkley’s issue with undue coverage for teams struggling to perform
The 62-year-old had previously slammed both the Lakers and Warriors during his appearance on NBA on TNT in March this year. He expressed his disappointment at the media and fans hyping up the two teams despite delivering average performance this season.

“I’m so sick of these fools on other networks talking about the Lakers and the Warriors… We don’t brag about any other play-in teams, do we? I understand Steph is great, LeBron is great – ain’t nobody worried about the Lakers and the Warriors in the West,” he said when the two teams were headed for the play-in tournament in April.
He further backed his statement by stating no play-in team in the Eastern Conference gets this unnecessary attention. Barkley is not completely wrong in his opinion but the argument’s counter can be the example from last season. Notably, the Lakers were in the play-in tournament last season as well, but they made it all the way to the Conference Finals. And though the hope for the Lakers is thinner than the strand of a hair this season, if luck somehow favored them, Barkley may have to go back on his words.
