The haters are loud, but nothing Chicago’s sports lovers are used to. Undeterred by the slander thrown Chicago Sky’s way recently, fans are abuzz with Angel Reese’s latest feat. Once again going up against Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever, she avenged last week’s loss with an 88-87 victory. To make the night sweeter, Reese led the game with 25 points, 1 assist and 16 rebounds. This is not only her best night so far into her young WNBA career, she’s the first rookie to record eight consecutive double-doubles in WNBA history. Juanita Vanoy, who probably felt Chicago, which has changed quite a bit compared to the time when her then-husband was the city’s biggest star, was thrilled for the WNBA rookie.

She shared Reese’s post-game moment on her Instagram Stories with an extra message. “Love this/her,” she wrote with a heart-eye emoji. Vanoy was born and raised in Chicago. She met and married Michael Jordan before he led the Bulls to two three-peats. She’s shown a spectrum of emotions since Reese arrived in Chi-town and has been hyping her with similar posts.

The clip Vanoy shared was when ESPN caught up with her after the game. Speaking about her record-making night, Reese said, ““I’m a dawg, you can’t teach that.” ESPN summarized her dazzling confidence in one caption, “Angel Reese is HER.” Reebok responded to the same post with, “Yes she is,” in the comments.

Chicago has also witnessed its stars, Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter, and Sky, being vilified for allegedly taking out their jealousy in physical ways on Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark. But the Windy City has rallied behind its team and rookies at every step. Someone who knows how rough basketball can get, Metta World Peace was also in the comments hyping Reese with raised hands (emojis).

Reese’s consistent growth since entering the league has been responsible for taking Sky to a 6-9 record, no.4 in the East, and no.8 in the WNBA. Sure, Indiana is up 2-1 so far in their matchups, but Sky is determined to turn the tables further into the season. At least Sky’s co-boss, Dwyane Wade, is confident about it. Vanoy is just riding the Angel Reese hype train.

Juanita Vanoy shows Angel Reese’s real ‘attitude’

The recent record is pushing the ‘Angel Reese for ROTY’ campaign further. At the same time, there’s a lot of smack talk about her ‘attitude’. Through it all, Vanoy is savoring Reese’s off-court moments along with her confidence.

One such moment came immediately after Reese’s win. 4x WNBA champ, 3x MVP, 6x international gold medalist, and Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes, was in the house. Reese went to her for a hug (and maybe get some of that superstar fairy dust for herself) which is a sure sign the Chi Barbie is in the league.

Vanoy was there when Monica McNutt slammed Stephen A. Smith and when Chicago Sky lost to Fever, she was still uplifting Reese. Reese, for her part, wants to be the reason MJ returns to Chicago but to watch Sky play. While that can’t be predicted, we think Ms Vanoy would jump at the opportunity.
