So, it came as a shock when ‘Uncle’ of Angel Reese compared her gameplay to a 2x All-Star, who did not even win a ring.

The comparison from the 4x NBA Champion was with his former teammate Antawn Jamison. And even though it may sound surprising, the former forward is part of a list that only features 51 NBA players, past or present.

What you’re shooting, it’s going and it’s effective, but get you one or two moves. You know who you are? You’re the female Antawn Jamison,” Shaquille O’Neal said on Angel Reese’s podcast. Before entering the league, the LSU alum was called a ‘Double-Double Queen’. In her final season with LSU, she scored 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game. Similarly, even Jamison, being a forward, scored 22.2 points and 10.5 rebounds in his final collegiate season.

In the 1998 draft, the former North Carolina alum was the fourth overall pick. During his rookie season with the Warriors, he averaged 9.6 points and 6.4 rebounds. But that’s not why Shaquille O’Neal compared Angel Reese to Antawn Jamison. The 2x All-Star had an effective field goal efficiency of 48.5%, in his 16-year NBA career. Have an interesting take?

In her collegiate career, the Baltimore native had an eFG of 50%, but that did not transpire during her rookie season with the Sky. She ended the season with the Chicago franchise with an unfortunate hand injury, but her eFG% was just 39.5%. Which was the lowest when we compared her 4-year collegiate stats as she had 47.2% and 50.2% for Maryland Terrapins.

And during LSU, it was 52.6% in the title-winning campaign and 47.2% in her last year. In fact, her low efficiency around the rim has been a concern that many analysts and fans have talked about, questioning her skills. Her offensive rebounding streak has also been under a lens after many noticed how she would grab her own misses while accusing Reese of stat-padding.

That’s why Shaquille O’Neal said, “You know who Antoine Jameson is, he got 20,000 points with his shot. Whatever your shot is like everybody’s shot ain’t going to be Steph Curry. Your shot is your shot, your shot got you a woman’s National Championship,” via Unapologetically Angel.

And it could mainly be the reason why Shaq chose a 2x All-Star in Antawn Jamison to prove a point home.
