Backing Caitlin Clark against all the hate, and now rooting for another WNBA star, Gilbert Arenas is extending all his support to the women’s league. This came at the recent matchup between the Los Angeles Sparks and Indiana Fever at the Crypto.com arena. The former NBA star, along with his team of the Gil’s Arena podcast, appeared at the game and with a special gesture of support.
Notably, all the members present at the game wore a t-shirt that included a character from Lexie Brown’s first name. “LEXIE!” the six-member group spelled out through their t-shirts. The Sparks guard has often appeared as a guest on the podcast and the guys made sure they showed up for “their girl“.
This is so tuff!

It is important to highlight this support for the 29-year-old Sparks star comes on an important day for her. As per an X post by footwear and WNBA marketing journalist, Nick DePaula, the 2021 WNBA champ played against the Fever wearing her own custom pair Reebok Solution PE. But the game did not turn out as Brown would have expected. She could manage just 5 points in the game, losing to the Fever 73-78.

However, Gilbert Arenas would not have minded the outcome because, as mentioned above, he recently supported Indiana’s Caitlin Clark as well. Notably, there has been some criticism and even some alleged jealousy against Clark recently.
Gilbert Arenas takes a dig at WNBA girls to support Caitlin Clark
This is a widely known fact that WNBA was suffering from the lack of viewership for quite some time. And the league had high expectations from fresh faces like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese to change the scenario. Notably, this year’s Iowa Hawkeyes v UConn Huskies NCAA game became the most-watched women’s basketball game ever. So the popularity of the former Hawkeyes star, Clark, gave WNBA a hope of saving the league.

However, higher expectations and all the limelight also brought some criticism against the 22-year-old. To support the Fever star, Gilbert Arenas recently presented a compelling example of the value Clark brings to her league. The former Washington Wizards star discovered that the Caitlin Clark effect beat the sales record of an entire season in only five games.
“I don’t know if the WNBA girls got Internet? Which they undoubtedly do. All they have to do is look… Just look. With her in the league, just five games into it, we sold more merch than all of last year, in five games. So therefore no matter how we feel about the attention she’s getting, our s*** is being sold,” he said in an episode of Gil’s Arena. So it’s evident that from Clark to Lexie Brown, Gil is not supporting the teams specifically but the WNBA itself.
