The rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese enters a new chapter every time these two athletes step onto the court. It was evident in their recent face-off where Reese’s flagrant foul on Clark brought out numerous narratives from the fans and the NBA legends. However, Chicago Sky’s part-owner Dwyane Wade dismissed any hateful notion towards Clark.

On his YouTube channel, Wade spoke with Bob Metelus about the physicality of the WNBA. Wade said the women’s game was always competitive, but it has gotten even more competitive now and the players have also acquired better skills.
Dwyane Wade spoke about how some people need storylines and drama to be connected to the game. “This Caitlin Clark conversation with everyone hazy and I’m looking at it like I know what happened my rookie year when I came.”

He continued how every rookie and every veteran in the NBA or the WNBA would act the same. The veterans wouldn’t easily let the rookies have their mark in the NBA. “This is all a part of ‘hey you got to show us that you built for this league,‘” Dwyane Wade said, via The Wine Down with Dwyane Wade.
Wade sided with Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark’s comments. Reese said, “It was a basketball play” and Clark also echoed the same sentiment. “Just a part of basketball. It is what it is, just trying to make a play on the ball and get the block. It happens,” said the Indiana Fever rookie.
Dwyane Wade thinks the 2024 draft batch of the WNBA deserves even more attention.

Dwyane Wade answers why WNBA stars like Caitlin Clark don’t get paid enough
In his stern outspoken manner, Wade mentioned that the talent has always been in the WNBA. However, people did not notice it earlier. He blamed the basketball fanatics for not tuning into the WNBA games. Another reason for the WNBA to not get itself in a position like the NBA is they did not have moguls like ESPN and TNT supporting them, until now.

The 42-year-old said previously the WNBA never had a big TV deal. They shared it with the NBA. But now the big corporations and the big brands are putting money into the W game. The WNBA and the college women in commercials were never marketed previously like they are getting marketed now.

Wade believes the WNBA is now showcasing its true potential. And once it gets recognition globally, women athletes should get better deals. With a standout player like Caitlin Clark sparking a fire that was out for a long time, the fans can expect a brighter future for these athletes and the WNBA.
