Just two games ago, A’ja Wilson etched her name in the history books by becoming the WNBA’s single-season scoring leader. She surpassed the record of 936 points set last year by Jewell Loyd, finishing the night with 956 points. With her average of 27 points per game, it was only a matter of time. When Wilson reached this milestone, even Isiah Thomas was left ‘wordless’ in his praise for the star.
On his Instagram story, the Pistons legend re-shared the post, which celebrated Wilson’s historic feat. Although Isiah Thomas did not add any words to it, he added a song to justify the brilliance. “Rule my World, I say they Rule my World,” were the lyrics he chose from the song Kiss by the legendary musician Prince and his band The Revolution.
A’ja Wilson is definitely ruling the world, as she scored 1,000 points in a single season. Zeke re-shared the post, which was a collaboration post between the WNBA, NBA, and the Aces. “THE FIRST AND ONLY TO EVER DO IT 🏀 A’ja Wilson is the only player in WNBA history to score 1,000 points in a single season.” Interestingly, Isiah Thomas was there to witness Wilson during her rookie year, as he was part of the front office at a rival.

The 2x NBA Champion was the Liberty President from 2015 to 19 when the former South Carolina alum won the Rookie of the Year. Speaking about the ROTY, Isiah Thomas recently even praised the current consensus ROTY winner Caitlin Clark. Appearing on the OutKick’s Don’t @ Me show, “She’s got it. She’s got what they call the ‘IT’ factor.”
From League MVP to ROTY, Isiah Thomas backs everyone
The 12x All-Star was also impressed when Clark broke the assist record as a rookie. Isiah Thomas tweeted, “Let it be known that only a special few in our game’s history can score while assisting teammates.” Because of this, during his interview with Outkick, he called her a complete player.
Apart from the abilities on the court, the 63-year-old also appreciated the mentality of not only Clark but Angel Reese as well. “Let it be known: Catlin Clarke Angel Reese, play to WIN!” Isiah Thomas tweeted on his social media platform. The appreciation was because the Rookies denied that their focus was on the individual awards but they would rather focus on helping their team win.
