Living away from the LSU shadow of Shaquille O’Neal, the youngest child of the family is making her claim. After two games for the Florida Gators, the 18-year-old is settling into her new life in the Sunshine State. MeA’rah O’Neal, began her Florida Gators campaign with a blowout win over Florida Atlantic Owls, followed by one more win against the Florida A&M Rattlers. It is too early to predict if MeA’rah will do justice to her surname, but looks like, on other fronts, the flair is there.
We say, think customized, think Shaquille O’Neal, and it seems at least the youngest member of the family is ready to step into that shoe. Remember Me’Arah’s Instagram post ahead of the game 2?
Captioned as “issa gday🎱 let’s go,” it was a carousel of five photos and a clip. That clip and a snap out of the five stood out. Why? Because of a piece of jewelry. Dangling around Me’Arah’s neck was a sleek chain and the diamond pendant could have been better to be sported on a game day.

It was an alligator- replicating the logo of the Florida Gator. Needless to say, the piece of jewelry had to be customized. Taking that personalization spree further, now Me’Arah has added one more goodie to it, and looking at that, you might feel like the senior O’Neal has passed his passion on to safe hands.
Going beyond jewelry, Me’Arah this time did it for her home. She took her Instagram to share in her stories the snap of a customized rug with “ 🔥.” Crafted by Tufty Rugz by Jay Downing, the sleek rug has a grey base. But the highlight was Me’Arah’s name ‘Meezy’ written in shades of black and pink.
“I took the E out of EMOTION and I been on the go 🏎️ever since…. Tufty Rugz did it again!! Straight 🔥🔥,” the Insta handle of Tufty Rugs posted with excitement. As the Insta handle stated, they are into “Custom Rugs, Business Name Rugs, & Favorite Sport Team, Logo Rugs‼️” Well, that is evident from the snaps on their Insta handle.
From Milwaukee Bucks logo rug to the exciting jersey rugs and whatnot! And if you are a basketball enthusiast, you might want to check out their ’23 Jordan’ or ‘0 Lillard’ jersey rug. Interestingly, in their post, Tufty Rugs also showcased one more custom rug that had TKRAZI’ woven on it. Do you know who it was for?

Downing of Tufty Rugz in a post on his LinkedIn that they made it for another talented hooper, Terrence Brown who is currently plying his trade for the Fairleigh Dickinson Knight. Meanwhile, Me’Arah’s did not stop her love for the Gators with just the customized pendant. In fact, it was a sequel of what we saw a few months back.
Fresh off starting her college journey at the University of Florida, Me’Arah didn’t waste any time making her mark. And what can be a better way to announce allegiance to the new college than a custom alligator ring? That’s right, Me’Arah collaborated with Status Jewels, a local Florida jeweler, to design a one-of-a-kind ring featuring the iconic Gator head. Talk about representing your new school in style!
Meezy proudly showed off her new collection with an Instagram, while also sporting a couple of necklaces, ear studs, and a bracelet. Status Jewels even got a shoutout, with Me’Arah tagging them in her post and writing, “@mearahoneal_ Had to come right at @statusjewel for my custom GATOR Ring🐊 One of One 💎 #status.” You must be recalling custom necklaces that scream “Diesel” to diamond-studded rings of the big man!
Shaq famously let his early NBA earnings out on all things shiny, from cars to custom chains. Over all these years, we’ve seen everything from spinning MGM necklaces (a gift from Rick Ross) to his signature “Shaq” pieces. If these are not enough, Shaq’s got his own jewelry line under Zale Corp. So does Me’Arah look quite similar to her father in his younger days? Het mother, Shaunie’s words might make you feel like that.
“Me’Arah, for instance, like she’s terrible at budgeting and I just don’t think she finds the priority in doing it because she knows we’re there to to do everything for her,” Shaunie had said of her daughter. But how did the first two games go for Meezy?
Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter is finding her feet with the new program
“I went on the Florida visit, and I had a feeling that’s where I belonged and that I was going to be most successful if I went to go play at Florida,” Me’Arah spoke to ESPN, about her decision to choose the Gators over LSU, which many people thought could have been her destination. In her two games so far, her contribution has been positive.

Against the Florida Atlantic Owls, the guard scored 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 assist in 20 minutes. Unlike Shaquille O’Neal, she was 100% from the FT line but could improve her overall shooting. Against Florida A&M Rattlers, Meezy was once again perfect from FT (3-3), she scored 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, one steal, and one block each in 17 minutes.
Shaquille O’Neal was not present during her NCAA debut, but her mother Shaunie Henderson was. “The moments I wish I could split myself in half…. Both my babies game openers tonight. I’ll be sitting in the stands watching one while holding my phone watching the other. MOTHERHOOD! I love every minute of it. Cheering for both at the same time!” Shaq was attending Shaqir’s game, which kicked off at the same time. Still, Shaq has only praise for her daughter.
When the Lakers legend was inducted Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Shaq had made a lofty prediction about Me’Arah. “I don’t like to put pressure on my babies, but she works out with my sons, and I think it’s fair to say one day if she continues, Me’Arah will probably be the best women’s basketball player ever. She’s that good,” Shaquille said. Although her numbers are not quite there yet, the 18-year-old has an interesting take on pressure.

“My dad always tells me that pressure makes diamonds. I always try to keep that with me, especially in those moments where everyone is watching. I’m just trying to do me and make myself proud,” Me’Arah had said to ESPN. We definitely keep our fingers crossed to find the diamond-like shine is not just limited to Me’Arah’s alligator-shaped ring and pendant!
