Like father, like son? Not if social media has anything to say about it. Kiyan Anthony, the four-star recruit who has showcased his skills his summer at Peach Jam, SLAM Summer Classic, and Rod Wave is down to make the first big decision of his life that will shape his career in the future – his college decision. While the 17-year-old has been showing signs since day one that he is tilted to follow his father’s footsteps in everything, now the fans have come up with a possibility that no one was ready for.
Last month, Kiyan announced that he would be making the college decision in the second week of this month between USC, Auburn, and Syracuse. However, Carmelo Anthony’s recent appearance on the ‘Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon‘ has made it clear that Auburn is out of the picture.
When Fallon pointed out that Kiyan Anthony will announce his NCAA program choice during Melo’s podcast ‘7 PM in Brooklyn’ on November 15, the NBA legend replied, “I’m a little nervous but yes. He is deciding which college he wants to go to. It’s down to two. It’s down to Syracuse and USC.”

Carmelo Anthony’s time at Syracuse University is legendary in college basketball history. As a freshman in the 2002-2003 season, Carmelo led the Syracuse Orange to their first-ever NCAA Championship. Known for his scoring prowess, rebounding skills, and clutch performances, Anthony averaged 22.2 points and 10 rebounds per game, establishing himself as one of the most dominant players in college basketball.
Kiyan through various interviews had also made it clear that he had a strong liking for Syracuse. “I’m looking forward to take a second visit [to Syracuse], and nobody knows, I can go there so,” said Kiyan during an interview with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson.

Have an interesting take?
However, fans on social media have added fuel to the speculation fire. A recent tweet sparked a wave of excitement by suggesting that Kiyan is leaning toward USC, the college where Bronny James had spent one year before being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, leading to enthusiastic reactions and predictions. Time to take a look at what exactly are the fans’ opinions.
The fans give their take on Kiyan’s choices
The followers’ opinion of Kiyan Anthony’s college decision has been electric, with social media buzzing over the possibility of him choosing USC over his father’s alma mater, Syracuse. As soon as the guard announced that he was down to these two schools, fans immediately took to X.
The comment section was filled with the obvious with one fan commenting, “USC easy,” and another fan bringing up a Harry Potter reference to challenge Kiyan to prove himself that he is a better player than Bronny James. “If he really got that melo in him, he would go down to USC and make Bronny name like Valdermort,” wrote the fan.

It is no news that Bronny’s career with the Trojans was not just short-lived but also not successful on the court. He only averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in his 25-game stay. Hence, basketball enthusiasts already want Anthony to take over the program and make Bronny a thing of the past.
Lebron James’ second son Bryce James has still a year left in high school. However, he has already received offers from USC, Ohio State, and Duquesne after he signed a NIL deal with Klutch Sports. One fan was sharp enough to remember this fact and commented on it speculating that the Melo and LeBron kids would meet.
“Probably USC to hoop with Bryce? I’m thinking about him having fun on his own then that other part of him like I wonder if you wants to try and top what his dad did there, even if he came close to it! I love a competitor and a person that shows passion!” wrote a fan while another one commented, “Bryce team up with kiyan.”

However, while others were busy expressing their opinions for USC, one still believed that the 17-year-old would carry on with his father’s legacy in Syracuse. “Hopefully Syracuse like his pops,” wrote the fan.
A commitment to Syracuse would uphold the Anthony family’s connection to the Orange, while USC represents a fresh start and potentially broader horizons. Either way, fans are watching with bated breath, eager to see Kiyan Anthony’s journey.
