Kendrick Perkins and disagreements have been a thing of frequency. For the more recent one, the former Boston Celtics star took shots at LeBron James through a post on X. Amid all the drama that came out of it, Perkins has ensured to keep things smoothened around his family.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Perkins celebrated his niece’s milestone, sharing a few clicks from her graduation. “My beautiful niece walked across the stage today and I must say it made me shed a few tears today!!! I remember being at the hospital when you were born, to you coming to spend months me and your Auntie in Boston and here we are. I’m sooo proud of you @yayacapalott and I Uncle Perk love you beautiful…,” read the caption to the post. Uncle Perk’s conclusive words of wisdom for his niece? “be a leader and never a follower.”

Some may find it interesting how Perkins is taking all the hate on one end of the social media and extending love on the other end of it. However, it cannot be denied that what came from him amid all of this was not only bold but controversial. It all started with LeBron James praising Kyrie Irving for his recent performance, while also expressing his desire to play with the Mavs again sometime.
Meanwhile, Perkins did not like the idea of the King involving himself in Irving’s big moment of the NBA finals. “Here we go again, Bron weaseling his way into somebody else’s moment…This is not about you! Your team is at home… This is about the Mavs and the Celtics, but yet you’re so mad and disappointed that you’re not Kyrie Irving’s running mate anymore. Here we go again,” he stated. However, what came next eventually put the former Celtics on netizens’ target.
Perkins compares himself to Jesus amid the LeBron James row
After Kendrick’s comments against the Lakers star, NBA alerts updated the King is now longer following the 2008 NBA champ on social media. It’s said that the former Celtics star had met Bron back during his seventh-grade days. The two became friends when they were teammates on the Oakland Soldiers, during their time at the ABCD Camp.
It seems the 4x NBA champ unfollowing Perkins has brought an end to whatever was left of that bond. But Perk has rather projected himself to be unaffected by the update from NBA alerts. “Everybody didn’t follow Jesus, I’ll be ok,” he posted on X in reply to NBA alerts.

Meanwhile, this statement brought a lot of criticism against Perkins for comparing himself to Jesus. “Might be the worst tweet of all time, better off not have responded if you gonna say this sh*t,” NBA World replied. But that’s been the last of the scrutiny-inducing stance from Perkins, clearly channeling his focus to the happier side.
