With every new development, the Tyreek Hill situation gets murkier. Pro athletes on the outside have feelings about the incident. The day after the Miami Dolphins wide receiver was arrested, Charles Barkley was on the Roc and Manuch Show where they asked his thoughts about it. Hill was pulled up in his sports car at a traffic stop before the Dolphins game on Sunday. The situation escalated quickly and the videos of the altercation made it all over social media. At this point, Chuck did not follow every update in detail. But you can tell from his speech that the situation saddens him.
Barkley admitted that he didn’t read up on the instance, but on the surface, it appears it “clearly escalated quickly.” What concerns Chuck is that this will create a media frenzy, which it already has. The NBA legend has had a history of run-ins with law enforcement when he was still playing. Speaking from experience, Barkley sort of revealed what he would’ve done in Hill’s position.
“I think the one thing you can’t do as a celebrity, you can’t say, ‘you know who I am,'” Chuck said. “And like I say, I don’t know what happened but that’s the one thing you cannot do.” What he does recommend is, “You say ‘yes sir’ and cooperate 100%.”

As per Barkley, you need to be conscious about these things because there are, “so many fools in the media who love to play the race card.”
According to the officers’ bodycam footage released from the incident that went down in Miami-Dade County on Sunday, it was a tense exchange between Hill and a few officers. It escalated when he pulled his window up after the officer told him to keep it down. Hill initially sounds desperate to get to the season opener game and argues, “Don’t tell me what to do.” But he later seems terrified and somewhat cooperative when he’s getting cuffed.
The incident has sparked a debate about who was more in the wrong. Some believe the cops were excessive and others argue that Hill was uncooperative. Hill maintains that he didn’t do anything to deserve that and was cooperative. Barkley might think otherwise, but he is more concerned about the worst-case scenario.
Charles Barkley wants to de-escalate the situation
As seen in the bodycam footage, Hill is talking to a ‘Drew’ on the phone and both his agent and the team’s security director, both named Drew, show up. Some of his teammates also showed up and attempted to mediate but the officers sent them away. Calais Campbell stayed. Hill was also seen pleading with his teammates to not leave him. One of the officers would identify Hill as a Dolphins player after which they let him go with two citations.
Hill and his teammates have responded to the issue. At least one of the officers was put on desk duty and an internal investigation is underway. The release of the bodycam footage was a shocker as police previously stated that they wouldn’t do that until the investigation was complete. The development sparked responses, including from Kevin Garnett.
Chuck looks at it objectively. He claims, “When we put let these fools on TV and radio who start talking about it, they go straight towards it’s rac–m. I’m like, well wait a minute now, we don’t know that.”

Barkley implies that the situation shouldn’t have escalated to such an intense degree and maybe Tyreek Hill should’ve handled it better from the start. But it’s happened already, and it’s becoming a huge talking point online and on TV.
