“Selecting a winner like Jayden Daniels will energize the players and our fan base!” After the surprise first-round draft by the Commanders, Magic Johnson showed faith in his rookie. And the call has paid off as the Quarterback has been instrumental in their success. That’s why it’s not just the minority owner singing Daniels laurels, other former NBA stars have chimed in. Former NBA Champions Matt Barnes and Kevin Garnett seem to be all on board the Washington hype train ahead of the NFC Championship game.
“Young buh different different 🫡💯.” The Celtics legend added the caption on his Instagram story alongside a post from Barnes. “Jayden Daniels could be the first rookie QB to start in the Super Bowl.” It was during the conversation on his podcast with Coach Jason Brown, that the coach asked the Warriors star a tough question.
“You and I got a vote on the MVP after what we just saw this the first two rounds of the NFL playoff. Would you vote for Jayden Daniels as your MVP?”

“I mean it’s hard, it’s not hard not to. I mean obviously you know we’ve been able to see what Saquon Barkley has done and what Josh Allen’s been able to will his team to do. But yeah, he’s (Daniels) definitely right in that conversation.” Before asking the question, the coach also took a shot at the Bears for missing out on drafting Jayden Daniels.

They had the first overall pick, and they signed Caleb Williams, another young QB. But Brown was not a fan of the decision. “Jayden Daniels’ about to do it man he’s about to do something I think he’s gonna win next week and have a rookie in the Super Bowl. And the reason why before the season I said Bears you’re gonna kick yourself. This the best QB in the draft. It ain’t close and he’s taking the commanders to the playoffs.”
That’s why even Kevin Garnett showed support for Daniels and his approach throughout this season. After all, he had no problem dispatching the top seed in Detroit Lions.

How a rookie conducted a masterclass in the victory
A 45-31 victory over the Lions, means that the Commanders are unbeaten in the last 7 games. Daniels threw more than 200 yards in those 6 games and in the last game was just one short of 300. Not to forget his contribution, where he ran for 52 yards and had two touchdowns. And after a 4-13 debacle last season, the performance this year is definitely something that the fans could cheer for.
For the first time in 33 years, it will be Washington’s first conference championship game. With Jayden Daniels’ impressive performance, the Commanders added a post with his picture and caption at the bottom, “Most offensive yards by a rookie in the NFL History.” Plus, a few hours ago, the 24-year-old also earned the PFWA Rookie of the Year.

His performances and his composure are unlike any rookie. That is what Matt Barnes and especially Kevin Garnett tried to explain with his Instagram story. Next up for the Commanders are the Eagles, their division rivals. The regular season games ended 1-1, so a perfect opportunity for both teams to cap off the ultimate decider.
