It’s not surprising how the value and appeal of his game-worn collectibles have continued to soar after all these years. Recently, one of his oldest pair of trainers were valued at over half a million dollars.

While the price shows a stark difference from one of Jordan’s jerseys which was sold for $10.1 million, it represents one of the most important parts of the athlete’s history.

Oldest shoes of Michael Jordan are nearly 10,000x more valuable now

Sneaker culture got its first Air Jordan in the year 1985. Back then it was sold for $64.99. MJ’s iconic line of shoes soon revolutionized the industry itself. However, this Nike Air Ship is special and was worn by the legend years before the launch of Air Jordan.

Recently, the original sneakers were sold for a whopping price of $624,000. That’s a massive figure compared to the $65 they sold for just 4 decades ago. Interestingly, the owner of the sneakers never even paid for them!

The Chicago Bulls legend wore this trainers during his fifth NBA game. Yes, indeed, one of the oldest pairs of shoes worn by Michael Jordan.

According to the reports, after the game, the 6-time champion gave his sneakers to a ball boy in the locker room. TJ Lewis, who was fortunate to acquire MJ’s oldest trainers, cherished them for forty years before putting them up for auction in 2021.

This very special pair is a part of the champion’s life. They were first sold for $520,000 but the price now rests upon more than half a million due to the fees to cover auction expenses. Well, it might not be surprising if you’re aware of Michael Jordan’s sneakers from The Last Dance.

1998 game-worn shoes fetched $2.2 million

The shoes that Mike wore during the 1998 Finals soared past the estimated price and fetched $2.2 million at Sotheby’s auction in 2021.

It was the ‘Bred’ Air Jordan13s worn during Game 2 of the Finals where the Chicago Bulls beat the Utah Jazz 93-88. This was again a unique part of MJ’s career.

While Michael Jordan’s memorabilia has always been in demand, the credit for the sale of these shoes goes to the popular Netflix series ‘The Last Dance.’ The series chronicled the victory of His Airness and the Bulls in the 90s.
