Whether it’s through his weight or a tattoo, Zion Williamson has attracted the attention of NBA fans once again. While analysts have voiced constant criticism of his weight issues that are dragging down his game, fans are worried about the positioning of his tattoo. Recently, a former NBA player couldn’t help but bring Stephen A. Smith’s controversial take into the conversation while talking about the player’s viral tattoo.

The 23-year-old player recently surprised his fans as he flaunted his new tattoo on his social media.  In the post, Williamson is seen smiling while a bright design showing a roaring animal within a cross was placed slightly off-center on his chest. The post quickly started to get fans’ attention including former NBA player Gilbert Arenas.

In the recent conversation with Shannon Sharpe, Arenas described what was going through his mind when he saw Williamson’s post. He admitted, “The belly is what stopped me man; It reminded me of what Stephen A said, he was at the free throw line and his belly getting the bounce. As soon as I seen him with his shirt off that was all I looked at like Stephen A was right.”

Arenas was referencing Smith’s recent viral comment on Zion. Speaking of the NBA Cup semifinals, Smith previously advised the player to eat less and start putting more effort into building his physique. His advice came after he described witnessing Williamson’s stomach bounce as he attempted a free throw. Smith is indeed one analyst who doesn’t hesitate to dish out harsh and brutal comments. For Williamson, this wasn’t the first time.

Stephen A. Smith’s viral comment on Zion Williamson

The sports commentator had previously criticized New Orleans Pelicans for his weight. Often in his shows, he has mercilessly voiced his opinion. He recently stated how there was no justification for an NBA athlete to have their stomach bounce during a game. His words were, “Sure. But the ultimate evidence was his belly. I watched this man walk to the free-throw line, and I saw his belly bounce.”
