While the Christmas time is wholly exciting in the NBA calendar, it is also vitally important personally. Even though much is made of the spectacle of the Christmas Day NBA slate, familial roles are equally as important to our NBA superstars. As a result, the entire Golden State Warriors organization took charge of that conversation. While the team is ready for a showdown with Nikola Jokic, their tryst into fatherhood was the center of attention.

And, who better on the team to take charge of the conversation than the man with the most experience? The brainchild of the potent Warriors offense, Steve Kerr who is a father to 3. And, we don’t mean the Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green Big 3.

Instead of focusing on the other coach in the family, his son, Nick or his budding screenwriter son, Matthew, he would turn his attention to his experience with his daughter. Despite being a lawyer by profession, Maddy Kerr is a famous name for basketball fans. During his tenure as a commentator, and even these days at press conferences, the 4x Champion as coach is often seen teasing her.

But, speaking to NBC Sports, Kerr was ready to delve into the emotional side of their equation. “You know, it’s terrifying and you have no idea what you’re doing and you figure it out. You can read all those books, or try to, but the reality is that little girl will come out and you will love her more than anything else in the world, and you will do everything to protect her and to take care of her, and you’re going to do that your whole life. It’s just going to come naturally, and it’s the most amazing thing ever.”

During his near-decade-long run with the team, Kerr has faced every circumstance imaginable. Whether it be dynastic run, highest lottery odds, or middling play-in team, GSW has worn every cap under Steve. Moreover, the backstage drama is equally as fierce. Whether it be locker room tension, unhappy superstars, or even brawls, his plate has been full during their run.

But, it is his expertise in managing these obstacles that has led to his success. Whether it is managing the egos of superstars, or keeping a volatile element like Draymond in check, his excellence in each role is brilliant. Even though the results aren’t 100% successful, see Draymond’s interaction with the Phoenix Suns, Kerr does as good as a job as any. Perhaps, his time with the Chicago Bulls and an explosive Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman teammate pairing helped him learn his craft.
