Charles Barkley caught flak from his frenemy once again. Winning an NBA championship title is no easy feat. And Chuck knows this better than anyone in the league. He came close in 1993 but was narrowly defeated. However, some of his comments regarding the championship may have bothered his TNT colleague, Shaquille O’Neal. In a recent interview, Shaq took another shot at Chuck by posing a pressing question.
As a 4X NBA champion, O’Neal assured listeners that while the media, analysts, and fans often criticize or comment on a player about their championship wins, no one truly understands the effort unless they’ve won one. Speaking on the same, Shaq pointed out how Chuck often made several comments about championships despite losing his only chance to win one.
“The problem I have with Chuck is he tried to get loud. But then I’m like, how do you know? Like, how do you know what it takes to win a championship when you lost? I’ve been there six times and won four. And I got MVP and three of them. So I think I know what I’m talking about,” Shaq noted.

He has always respected Barkley’s opinion, called him the ‘big brother he never had,’ and admitted, “Charles is an outstanding individual who is going to say what is on his mind and that’s how it should always be.” But it might be that he doesn’t prefer the way Chuck shares his thoughts. As the LA Lakers legend further suggested that people should be sharing their experiences as he does rather than arrogantly calling out the players.
“Let people know who you are, and not in a arrogant way,” Shaq conveyed in conversation with Andre Johnson and Johnathan Joseph.
O’Neal has long teased Chuck about his lack of NBA rings in his celebrated career. This has become a common topic of banter between the two on Inside the NBA. While Chuck mercilessly trolls Shaq for his poor free-throw shooting, O’Neal goes on with the same taunt. On an episode of New Heights, O’Neal and Jason Kelce even joked about how the two of them share one thing in common that Chuck doesn’t, hinting at his lack of rings.
Despite Shaq’s obvious taunts about having more NBA titles than Chuck, the latter made a bold confession.

Charles Barkley’s bold claims about his comparison with Shaquille O’Neal
The latest episode of the Steam Room Podcast is quite interesting. A listener posed a clever hypothetical question asking who would be the better player between Shaq and Charles if both were the same height, 6 feet, rather than the giants they are? In response, the Philadelphia 76ers legend confidently claimed that he is the better player. “I’m a better basketball player than Shaq, number one,” Charles Barkley said.

He explained that while Wilt Chamberlain remains one of the most genius and strongest centers he has ever seen, Shaq is one of the biggest and most dominant players he has ever encountered. However, if Chuck were to face a 6-foot Shaquille O’Neal, he is confident that he would defeat him. “Shaq’s the biggest human being in the world… so if you were both 6 feet tall I’d kill him, I’d kill him,” Barkley said.
But since this height isn’t the reality, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has bested Chuck in several categories. Shaq has four more NBA All-Star selections and two more MVP honors. Of course, the former has NBA titles, while Barkley has none.
