There are a few crossover success stories in the world of sports. In the NBA, the most known name and achievement is of Michael Jordan who also played baseball for a short period. He, however, changed his mind and came back to the hardwood. Recently, NBA star Anthony Edwards made a tall claim about possibly becoming a crossover success.

As per the 22-year-old, he has what it takes to succeed in the NFL. However, it seems like he’s the only one who believes in that claim. Ex-NBA star Lou Williams shattered these dreams with a harsh reality check for the Minnesota Timberwolves star.

The Wolves star has recently said that he can play in the NFL and that he is going to make it happen. In a quest to become a crossover success, Edwards said that he would be the first NBA player to play football, professionally, at the highest level. This comment from the 22-year-old was discussed on the Run It Back show where Williams decided to give Edwards a hint of reality. The ex-NBA star laughed it off as just a bold claim before proceeding to dissect why Edwards would not be able to execute his plans.

Williams said, “No, Ant-Man, hell no. You can’t play in the NFL”. He said that he would be a “dream killer” only to let the youngster know that his claims were not realistic. He said that the NBA athletes are built a certain way which helps them in their sport. In the NFL, however, it’s a whole different ball game. The 3x Sixth Man of the Year said that Edwards shouldn’t make such claims without understanding the change he’ll have to put his body through. He also said that if he trains for it for several years, maybe he’ll stand a chance but will easily be outshined by other professionals.

Williams also talked about some “unicorns” of the game who could pull something like this off.
