Despite retiring from the game two decades ago, Michael Jordan still holds the same love in fan’s hearts. That is why his memorabilia creates records and excitement whenever they are on sale. Some even go and become a part of a legendary lore that helps up the price even more. After the successful Sotheby’s auction, another such piece came to light during one of the episodes of Pawn Stars.
Louis had a bronze Michael Jordan statue for the last eight years and wanted to sell it off for $10,000. Austin ‘Chumlee’ Russel, son of the pawn shop’s owner, called it “exceptional quality.” But was unsure about the price or about the artist who designed it. Art Expert Patrick Downing said, “The artist is Sean Joyce. He’s actually a California-based artist. He’s from Connecticut, but he works out of Hollywood in the film industry.”
The show often features experts to decide the price range of any item in focus before making an offer to their customers. Hence, Downing, in his expertise, said, “When it was initially released, these sold for about $1,500. But they are pretty collectible, plus it’s Jordan. So based on auctions of his other works, the value is at $6,000.”

Since the small statue did not have any artist’s proof, Chumlee offered him $3000 and Louis instantly denied the deal. After all, he claimed to be a big Michael Jordan collector, who bought this in 2017.
During the episode ‘Chumlee’ also said, “I mean, it looks like Michael Jordan.” The episode aired in August, yet the statement makes perfect sense after the recent Dwyane Wade controversy. Where the majority of the fan base and the NBA players and legends were not happy with the facial features. But the sculptor Omri Amrany respectfully disagreed. During his conversation with Sportico, he specified that the Bulls paid $250,000 for the commission of ‘The Spirit‘, the Michael Jordan statue at the United Center.
Obviously, the figure outside the United Center will have more mint attached to it, but the miniature bronze version of Michael Jordan being just $3000 worth is shocking. But don’t worry, not all the memorabilia of the Bulls legend has low prices. Some have set records in the past and have fetched millions in auctions.
