Basketball buffs are taking notice of a promise made by Dwight Howard. After several earthquakes shook the area, Howard expressed in a recent YouTube video on the “Above The Rim with DH 12” channel how much he wanted to go back to Taiwan. He offered thoughts and support during this difficult time, expressing solidarity with the impacted communities. During the conversation, Howard mentioned, “I pray that everything is okay. I know a lot of people are still shaken up by just being in an earthquake. It is a very scary experience, and I know this has been a very difficult time. I just want to give my thoughts and my prayers to all the families in Taiwan that were affected.”
Furthermore, Howard underlined his devotion to changing things in Taiwan by stating, “I got to come back… I would love to come back to Taiwan very soon to help do a relief project for all of the fans there, bring the smiles back, and bring smiles to everyone in Taiwan. Just to kind of get your mind shifted from the earthquake and stuff like that. I know it could be very difficult.” He is now vowing to return to Taiwan following the earthquake, though, as the Lakers’ offer is currently out of the question.
Howard’s X hints at a return for the Lakers
NBA fans are curious about recent developments in Dwight Howard’s career. The present playoff situation has put a stop to any potential Lakers offer, despite his previous tweets showing off a Lakers jersey and proclaiming his superiority over Nikola Jokic. Teams are not allowed to sign new players for the current season as the playoffs have already started. Howard made remarks earlier this week regarding a potential return to the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA Playoffs. On the X-handle, he also posted a photo with a Lakers jersey campaigning for a return. Howard noted, “I’m trying to give y’all the answers #lakeshow”.
Currently, the Lakers’ thrilling Game 2 victory on Monday night has left them trailing the Denver Nuggets 2-0 in the opening round. Well, Howard’s thoughts take us back to when he famously guarded Jokić in 2020 for the Lakers. Connecting this, Dwight Howard keeps trying to poke the Lakers because they keep losing to Jokic. Howard wrote, on his X-handle, “Just thinking about it… it’s a long way to go but at that point what can anyone say 🤯 ? And if the Lakers get past Jokic they can probably get past the rest.” Finally, even though the Lakers’ offer is no longer on the table, Howard’s commitment to go back to Taiwan illustrates the value that athletes have in both on and off-the-court situations.
