Let’s hit pause on Rashad McCants’s beef with Stephen. A. Smith. The ex-NBA veteran has started a new battle with former Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas, and this time, he might not win. Previously, the fight was for Kobe Bryant, but this time it is for Michael Jordan. McCants shared a new perspective on the GOAT debate, by pulling in legends of the NBA before MJ.  According to many, Kobe Bryant took the second position as the greatest of all time, after Jordan. While that is a debate for later, Arenas and McCants discussed who had the second place before Bryant.

The two did not conclude it. Instead, McCants questioned Arenas about who had the first place before Jordan in the GOAT debate. Well, Arenas believes there was none. According to him, Michael Jordan was the first ever GOAT in basketball. When McCants questioned, “Who was before Mike?” Arenas answered, “They didn’t have a GOAT yet”.

McCants tried to change Arenas’ decision by bringing Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, etc., but the 3x NBA All-Star remained firm with his stance on the Chicago Bulls legend. There was still one name left in McCants’ bag though.

Rashad McCants was adamant. The 39-year-old brough in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s career into display to prove Arenas wrong. The 39-year-old shared that Kareem led the league in all time points and he was the GOAT before Jordan.

He also shared Isiah Thomas’s quote on Abdul-Jabbar, “Captain, when he walked in the room, we bow.” Well, McCants is this adamant because he believes Kobe Bryant is the best player ever. He made it clear he does not care about the statistics.

Just because LeBron James continues to accomplish every other day, it does not mean McCants will put him over Bryant. When Arenas questioned who passed Jordan, McCants answered, “Kobe Bryant passed him”. The former Wolves veteran also had a solid point to prove it.

Statistically, Bryant crossed Jordan in the all-time scoring list. Arenas put LeBron James ahead of Bryant after he became the scoring leader. That was a check mate!
