Don’t be calling me Round Mound. First of all, I’m not Round Mound anymore. But ease up on the Round Mound.” Earlier this year, Charles Barkley stated how tired he was with his nickname. But now he has proceeded to call his new venture ‘Round Mound Media’. The latest venture will help develop “compelling, original stories.” So, should the fans be worried if the new production venture will intervene with the 76ers legend’s broadcast duties?

As per ‘Variety’, that isn’t the case. “Barkley will continue to work exclusively as an on-air analyst for Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT Sports and TNT Sports will have a first look at all of Barkley’s sports-related projects developed with Round Mound.” That’s why Charles Barkley called them “the perfect partner,” so that he could share his creative vision with the world.

Many reports suggest ten projects are already in development. One of them is a long-form documentary about Charles Barkley’s life. The new partnership is in league with ‘EverWonder Studio’, an independent content studio led by Ian Orefice and backed by Jeff Zucker’s ‘RedBird IMI’. Even the EverWonder CEO couldn’t wait for the world to see the content that the 11x All-Star will produce.

Most people probably first think of Charles as an athlete and a broadcast talent, but his passions are so much greater than that. This will be a great outlet for him to have.” During the same Variety interview, Orefice also said that people would be surprised at how much content will revolve around culture and society and not only focus on sports.

The last few months have been tough to keep up thanks, to Charles Barkley and his multiple announcements. First retiring, then un-retirement, but the uncertainty still looms over the TNT network.

Will Charles Barkley’s Round Mound Media and TNT be a seamless partnership?

What’s your perspective on:

Will Charles Barkley's new venture spell the end of his iconic TNT run?

Have an interesting take?

Yeah, you know, it’s going to be interesting after we lose the NBA after next year. Gonna have to figure out my life and what I’m looking for. I’m mainly concerned for the people I work with. Obviously, if I want to continue, I’m going to have opportunities — which, I haven’t made a decision on that yet.” So once again, the 61-year-old was coy about his future. But his longtime business associate was upbeat about the latest venture.

Marc Perman, who managed Barkley for more than three decades, will serve as president of the new production company in addition to keeping his current role with ‘Perman Management, Inc’. Both of them were responsible for the production of multiple projects with TNT. First the ‘American Race’ and ‘The Great Debate With Charles Barkley’, which was a sports documentary about six basketball legends.

Even EverWonder previously worked with TNT. They produced the ‘Players Era Festival’, which focuses on providing college athletes with opportunities to promote their NIL deals. Even though it may be seamless now, there is no guarantee for the future. Chuck could move away with his Inside Crew, with the help of his new venture.
