Is Zaya Wade the next big name in fashion, following in her father's legendary footsteps?

The love for fashion pulled Zaya and her father Dwyane Wade to a star-studded store opening party in LA. We’re talking about the Pier Luigi Loro Piana co-owned Loro Piana’s store opening. This comes as a part of the Italian luxury company celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the Wade family, barring Mrs. Wade, were part of the opening of their Los Angeles flagship on Rodeo Drive.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Wade shared multiple photos from the event to his IG account. “A Night of Beauty! Thank you @loropiana for making a table big enough for @zayawade and I to come and enjoy a night out,” he captioned his IG post. And although Gabrielle Union-Wade could not attend the event, she re-shared the said post in her IG story.

Even Zaya Wade herself was quite appreciative of the brand. “This is the softest denim I’ve ever felt,” she said, while donning Loro Piana’s cotton and cashmere true blues.

The store launch party also witnessed the presence of some big names from the entertainment industry. This included Succession star Jeremy Strong, GOT star Kit Harington, Wanda Maximoff aka Elizabeth Olsen, TASM star Andrew Garfield, and many more.

French multinational holding and conglomerate LVMH has been the majority owner of the company since 2013, which means the $1.6 billion rich businessman is no longer the majority owner. However, the brand still runs after his family name, as established by his grandfather, Pietro Loro Piana. The store launch comes as one of the first major decisions, a dream that was in the making as envisioned by CEO Damien Bertrand since Day 1 of his joining the company back in Nov 2021. Just three months later, in Jan 2022, the former Dior executive was out canvassing Rodeo Drive with his team.

Historically, Loro Piana has had a very strong business on the East Coast, and my second trip in my role at the company was to the U.S. because I knew that market had a big potential,” Bertrand said earlier in an inclusive interview. Previously, they had a smaller store on the street in a different location but the new flagship is almost four times bigger (7,776 square feet) on the same stretch as Dior and Gucci, flaunting a VIP lounge and terrace. Now with 23 stores strong in the US, Bertrand revealed the last three years saw Loro Piana doubling its business in the region. although actual revenue details were not disclosed.

“For me, it was important as well to develop another part of the U.S., L.A. So we started two years ago with Palo Alto, then last summer with Montecito, and Rodeo Drive today,” Bertrand said. As per Women’s Wear Daily, Loro Piana doesn’t employ promotion through celebrity ambassadors or campaigns. But still, the value shines in the major star power it attracted.

Dwyane Wade’s 17-year-old daughter has been quite a fashionista in herself

Earlier this year in February, Zaya took center stage in Bottega Veneta’s the then latest campaign. She also shared behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram during her trip to Milan. Decked out in the brand’s accessories, Zaya showed off her signature flair, and as always, her father was right there to support her. D-Wade proudly shared Zaya’s photos, praising her “style, confidence, and grace” on Instagram.

But Zaya’s moment didn’t stop there. She attended Milan Fashion Week for Bottega Veneta’s Autumn/Winter 2024 show, sporting a classic striped BV outfit and turning heads with her silver braids. Even Gabrielle Union jumped in to show her love, commenting on Zaya’s “braid toss” and calling it “legend status.”

Notably, at just 17, Zaya has already worked with big names like Tiffany & Co. and walked the runway for Miu Miu at Paris Fashion Week. Balancing her budding fashion career with typical teenage life, the father-daughter duo’s visit to Loro Piana’s store opening party is a reflection that her father is getting her all the exposure he can.
