Dwyane Wade has entered the Dolby Theatre as his powerful documentary short film, ‘Barber on the Little Rock’ has made it to the Oscars list for 2024. The 42-year-old who is the executive producer of this masterclass, decided to bring his wife Gabrielle Union along, only to pull her leg hilariously in an interview. The Hollywood actress who has made a name for herself in the film industry, fell prey to her husband’s cheeky brag on camera. 

Union has taken a lot of pride in D-Wade and his successful ventures so far. Coming with a filming background, the Oscar nomination is more meaningful for the actress, but Wade did not want her to enjoy it. Wade was questioned about his role as an executive producer and he had a lot to say. But notably, the Miami Heat legend shared, “Me and my wife always wanted to come to the Oscars. We wanted to have a reason to be here, one of us have a project here…I’m the first one to to bring us, so I’m happy about that“. 

Well, the 3x NBA champion was quite cocky. He also added, “No pressure,” subtly mocking his wife for not receiving an Oscar nomination yet. The 51-year-old actress who was looking at Wade with pride, couldn’t help but laugh at Wade’s hilarious comments. However, at the end of the day, it’s all love between the two. The 3x champion wouldn’t be here without his lovely wife!

Both Wade and Union are no strangers to taking up challenges. However, this role of an executive producer was somewhat unexcepted from the Flash. But of course, there was a promising reason for him to invest his time and money in this documentary.

The short film showcases the struggles that a few communities have faced in this world, and it is narrated through the tale of one man who fought to close the racial wealth gap. Wade, when asked why he wanted to be the producer, revealed, “As parents we try to tell our kids it’s no boundaries on their futures, but it is boundaries on their futures, in certain communities…Systematically, we have been shut down of financial system…It’s good to hear it, but it’s even better to see it.”

Well, Dwyane Wade has added another promising role to his resume now. This very first step has taken him to the Oscars. So, we can expect more such initiatives like this from the 13x All-Star. Importantly, Wade is not doing this for fame or money, but for a cause and to highlight the lives of the deprived. That speaks a lot about the 42-year-old!
