Do you remember the incident that got Paul Pierce dismissed from ESPN? In 2021, the 10x NBA All-Star was removed from the list of analysts at ESPN because he apparently disobeyed their morals clause. While Paul himself didn’t much react to the entire situation, it surely made a loud noise in the world of the internet. The Boston Celtics legend was seemingly fired for “Having Fun“, and everyone got that from the more-than-viral Instagram Live. However, the mystery about Monica still remains unsolved.
According to his earlier remarks, Pierce was already going to leave ESPN because “He was tired of wearing a suit and a tie.” Nevertheless, the name ‘Monica’ intrigued more people. Evidently, Pierce calls out the woman multiple times over his live video to “Come through.” Paul said on All The Smoke podcast, “A lot of y’all had a lot of things to say ‘You got fired on your day off’ ‘Who’s Monica?’ It’s all good, we gonna talk about that.”
He continued, “About the ESPN, it was all going down. It was my boy’s birthday. Poker game, he had some girls there, and I was feeling good. I’m enjoying retirement. I decided to pull out my phone. I was caught in the moment.” After painting the scene, Paul confessed his unawareness. He said, “People can record it and send it out was one thing I didn’t know about going live.

This was because he went live on his Instagram account while celebrating a birthday. However, the entire scene did not align with ESPN and its moral code. The Hall of Famer only opposed the action taken on him because nothing he did was illegal.

Who is Monica from the live feed of Pierce?
Many fans had the burning question on their mind about who Pierce kept calling on his live feed. Surprisingly, Pierce has nothing to say about it. Probably, this is because Monica is one of the girls present at the birthday party. While we may not know who exactly the 2008 NBA Champion called, the entire thing surely got him into trouble.
Pierce has displayed vast basketball skills that have given him honors of every kind possible. After his retirement, the NBA icon took the route to media and commentary. However, his free-time theatrics pulled him down the steep slope. Surely, he has set an example for others on what not to do.
