Senior Pastor Keion Henderson is married to Shaunie Henderson, who was once LA Lakers star Shaquille O’Neal‘s wife. Shaq had just landed with the Lakers when he first met Shaunie in 1996. The two were not only married for around 8 years but also brought 4 children into this world. 

But it ended with a divorce in 2010 because of infidelity on Shaq’s end, which he later confessed to. Although the former NBA star has not entered a matrimonial bond since then, Shaunie too took her own time before eventually tying the knot with Keion. And now, we’ll be having a closer look at the CEO and founder of The Lighthouse Church & Ministries.  

Keion Henderson’s life before meeting Shaunie

Born in a Christian family on July 6, 1981, Henderson was raised by his single mother, Gwen Scott. He also had an elder sister named Danyelle Brumley and a younger sister named Keionna MsKee Singelton. As revealed by Henderson in an interview, he didn’t know his father for almost 12 years of his life. He later came to know his identity, and it turned out to be a pastor of a church that his family attended.

As revealed by Henderson, he served as an adjutant to the pastor, and not only did he admire him, but secretly wished he was his father. However, when his wish turned real, he had a lot of questions, which he stated were left unanswered. The emotional trauma and rejection acted as a driving force for Keion Henderson to succeed, and along this path, he encountered Bishop TD Jakes. A mentor and a father figure, Jakes’ bond with Henderson proved to be ever-lasting.  

As for his education, Henderson completed his high school in 1999 at East Chicago’s Central High School. He proceeded onto his path of education with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from Indiana University-Purdue University and a master’s degree in Theology from Faith Evangelical College and Seminary. After he was done with his education, Henderson started working at a tax solution firm.

Later, he went on to become the Founder, CEO, and Senior Pastor of The Lighthouse Church and Ministries. As for his personal life, Felecia Henderson was Keion’s first wife, whom he married in 2010. According to Distractify, the pastor shares only one biological child — Katelyn Henderson — with his first wife. But he also raised Felicia’s two daughters — Tynisha and Candis — as his own. However, the matrimonial bond between the two ended almost 9 years after their marriage, with a divorce in 2019.

Shaunie and Keion’s journey together

The couple runs together a podcast, ‘The Groow Zone’. In the first episode of the podcast, they shared the details of the initial phase of their relationship. As per the revealed information, Shaunie met the Senior Pastor of The Lighthouse Church through a common friend in 2020.

The first step towards building this relationship was an impromptu date when Henderson asked Shaunie to watch him preach in San Bernardino. The location being too far, the two of them met at Keion’s hotel lobby in LA and grabbed a bite together at a restaurant. “We had this great conversation that ended up being five or six hours to where we got kicked out of the regular restaurant into the lobby,” Shaunie had said on the podcast. 

Little did they know that what had started off with an impromptu date would later turn into a matrimonial bond. In fact, Shaunie stated on the podcast that she did not have very high expectations from that first date. “I thought it was going to be really boring…Didn’t think that your lifestyle really allowed you to be the kind of fun that I like,” she said. But as destiny would have it, the two got married in 2022, while they continue to co-parent their children with their exes on cordial terms.
