Vanity Alpough: The unsung hero behind Kendrick Perkins' success. Do you agree?

For 15 years, Kendrick Perkins dedicated the majority of his life to the NBA, savoring all its ups and downs. All through that, his wife, Vanity Alpough put her dream on hold, being by his side while waiting to find a steady ground. Now, years after retirement the ESPN analyst is set to take on a new venture with his recently announced podcast, “Trill Talk,” and Vanity has been treading on hers as an entrepreneur. In doing so, the couple celebrated 15 years of saying ‘I do’ on the 25th of July.

However, not many know about Vanity Perkins, who has captured Perkins’ heart for about 2 decades. So here’s a brief look at the two and the family built together.

Vanity and Perkins’ early encounter: marriage and kids

Before tying the knot on July 25, 2009, Kendrick Perkins and Vanity Alpough had already shared nearly eight years together as friends and partners. They first met each other during their high school days according to Clutch Points and built on the bond for years. Vanity hinted in an interview that she attended college in Boston while Perkins played for the Celtics. And after he had completed six seasons with a franchise with a championship to his name, they held their extravagant wedding ceremony at Carlton Woods Country Club with their loved ones.

But these two weren’t the only significant moments that had transpired in Perkins’ life by then.

Perkins and Alpough’s journey of love and commitment reached a milestone in 2007 when they welcomed their first child, Kendrick Perkins Jr., even before they were officially married. Their family continued to grow with the birth of their second son, Kenxton, in 2011, followed by twins Kanter and Zoey in 2015. Each addition to their family solidified their bond, creating a bustling household of six.

In one of the interviews, Vanity revealed her pride in their second son, Kenxton, predicting a bright future for him in basketball, much like his father’s illustrious career. “I feel so proud of him because he was literally born to be a ballplayer,” she shared. She also mentioned that their older son, Kendrick Perkins Jr., started practicing basketball, though a bit later. Vanity confidently assured that both boys will soon continue their father’s legacy on the court.

However, fewer people know about Vanity Alpough’s business ventures and how she patiently waited until Perkins completed his NBA journey before focusing on her career.

Vanity Alpough, born on on July 7, 1985, always harbored a keen interest in starting multiple businesses. In an interview with The Hype Magazine, she mentioned her desire to explore various ventures. She stated, “I did open something in Oklahoma, and we got traded, so that’s why I never wanted to do anything like that until he retired.”

As they both settled at home, Alpough eagerly dives into new business opportunities. She mentioned, “I’m looking to open something now.” Despite her previous caution, she successfully runs an online store called Vanity Forever, specializing in ladies’ hair and accessories. Moreover, in 2021, she launched a dating app named WinknLink and works at Keller Williams Realty, a real estate company in Texas.

Beyond her personal endeavors, Alpough supports Perkins in his post-NBA career. She shared in an interview that since Perkins retired in 2018, they have enjoyed more family time together. “Kendrick’s been doing a lot of shows, so we have been able to kind of sit back and watch him do his thing on ESPN,” she said. Additionally, the couple trains together, which she finds fulfilling, adding, “I’m actually enjoying it.”
