Is the justice system failing Michael Jordan's family with these new twists in his father's murder case?

A whirlwind of storms took over the Chicago Bulls in 1993. They won their third consecutive championship and Michael Jordan announced his retirement, but what hit His Airness was his father and best friend’s death. Since then, many wondered just what happened to the two convicted men in James Jordan’s m*rder case.

Michael Jordan‘s father was m*rdered by two teens in 1993 which haunts people even to this day. And now, the latest developments have caused a new stir and tension among the public. According to the reports, there are chances that the new revelations could lead to the release of Daniel Green, one of the convicts in the case. But what about the other convict? Where is he right now?

The other teenager involved in the case was Larry Demery, Green’s childhood friend. Both Demery and Green were teenagers at the time, and now they are in their 40s. During the trial, both had accused each other of pulling the trigger. However, it was Green who was accused of being the sh**ter after Demery testified. But Green has denied the claims. In 2023, he has even reportedly sought perjury charges against Demery. He believes that the latter lied to avoid a death sentence.

Demery was sentenced to life imprisonment for the first-degree m*rder of Jordan’s father. He is now serving in a minimum-security prison in Lincoln County, Northwest of Charlotte. He pleaded guilty in 1995 and was sentenced to life and an additional 40 years.

In 2008, he was resentenced to life imprisonment for m*rder and attempted robbery, which made him eligible for parole. After 12 years, in 2020, it was announced that he would be granted a parole date by the parole commission after which he was supposed to join the scholastic and vocational program. Ultimately, the date was set for August 2023. However, the request was terminated without any reason being revealed.

There were more than 19 infractions lodged against him, including “s****ance possession.” Recently, chaos has been caused as the judge, Gregory Weeks, who presided over the case revealed new information. He shared that significant information was withheld during the trial which would have changed the outcome of the results in that hearing.

It was revealed that the forensic test run inside the car wasn’t presented by the analyst and there are chances that the blood sample found might not have been Green’s. Now that there is no proof connecting Green to the cr*me, can he eventually get out of the prison walls?

Will Daniel Green get a parole date?

Back in 2019, an evidentiary hearing for Green’s case was denied. Now, Judge Gregory Weeks has requested the parole commission to release Green. Rev. Thomas Jones shared that Weeks had presided over several cases but “had never been haunted in such a manner as he was haunted by this case.”

Hence, after all these years, he has asked to overturn his own decision. In a phone interview from the prison with ABC News, Green shared that he is grateful to the judge who brought up the matter even after all these years. He said, “It speaks volumes about this case, and I’m overwhelmingly grateful.”

However, no decision has been made yet. The Parole Commission will need at least a month or more to make any decision.

As per ABC News, James Jordan was sleeping in his expensive red Lexus on an access road off U.S. Highway 74 in Lumberton, North Carolina. The incident, which was marked as a robbery gone wrong, took place on July 23, 1993. Jordan was reportedly sh*t and was missing for over a week. His body was found 11 days later in a swamp in South Carolina, 60 miles away from the cr*me scene.

Over all these years, Demery has never moved from his confession and maintained his innocence. While Demery is still serving his sentence, this new revelation can be huge for Green. We are yet to hear more about the matter.
