Dikembe Mutombo’s journey to give back to the people
Hailing from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mutombo’s main motive was to enrich the lives of his people back home. He founded The Dikembe Mutombo Foundation in 1997. The mission was to give people in the Congo a better quality of life. Through this foundation, he constructed the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital in the capital city of Kinshasa in 2007. Named after his mother, the hospital had 170 beds and treated over 500,000 natives.
