“Was a Good Couple, Man” – Gilbert Arenas Questions Teyana Taylor’s “Fame” Being Reason for Divorce With Iman Shumpert

Gilbert Arenas once got back with his former wife just to switch out the original ring with a fake one. He even once called marriage an expensive ordeal. And the former NBA champion Iman Shumpert is finding it out the hard way. The 7 figure divorce settlement with Teyana Taylor is a huge one and Arenas reacted to the divorce news on his YouTube channel.

Agent Zero was reacting to a video that explained the current scenario where the monetary terms of the divorce were shown. Reacting to it, Arenas said, “This couple man that was a good couple man. I had Iman here, had the kids over here, uh the daughter, funny as hell. I mean, the family was it was a nice family man not going to lie.” He continued, “I don’t like this breakup, I don’t approve, I don’t, I don’t approve.”

The video speculated the reason for the divorce was jealousy from Shumpert. It was allegedly due to Taylor’s fame and Shumpert feeling insecure about her. Taylor is an actress, singer, and also a rap artist. Arenas, however, questioned the fame and asked his live viewers, “What has she done lately?” He clarified he did not mean any disrespect by asking the question. But he couldn’t remember anything recent which she was famous for. That could be because her last album was released in 2020.

Taylor and Shumpert even had their own show. Teyana & Iman was the name of the first show in 2018. Later the show was called We Got Love Teyana & Iman on E! in 2021. There were accusations of Iman Shumpert cheating on Taylor, but she clarified those talks. At the beginning of last year, she had filed for divorce, but the two agreed on a settlement a few days ago.

The former couple married in 2015 and have 2 children. Daily Mail reported that in June the former teammate of LeBron James had requested to lower his child support. Shumpert claimed he had $48,000 as his monthly income and wanted to reduce his child support from $8,000. Also, in the report, he pointed out that Taylor earned nearly double $94,000.

Taylor also accused Shumpert of taking out 4 million from their joint account. Also accusing him of not paying a $200,000 home renovation bill. The actress also shared the statement regarding the divorce. “Most importantly, we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married. We ain’t ever played with or about THAT.”

Taylor initially filed for divorce in 2022 and took it back one day later. Back in September last year, she officially announced her separation from Iman Shumpert and had hoped the divorce settlement would be kept private. However, the media leaked the news in November.
