The Golden State Warriors’ season has been a rollercoaster, but now, an even bigger shake-up could be on the horizon. With Jimmy Butler in the mix and Stephen Curry back on the court, the team’s offense should be back on track. But one NBA veteran has a wild suggestion – send Butler packing and bring Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Bay. Could this be the blockbuster trade that changes the NBA landscape?
The 6x NBA All-Star has been versatile on both ends of the floor! Trade discussions have already begun, placing Butler’s future in question. A former NBA player made a new suggestion that might solve problems for both the Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks.
In a recent episode of the Club 520 podcast, Jeff Teague and DJ Wells dissected the Milwaukee Bucks’ current situation. The unfortunate news of Damian Lillard’s deep vein thrombosis in his right calf has hit the Milwaukee Bucks hard. The absence of Lillard has put a question mark on the team’s place in the playoffs. This is a time when the Bucks need their Greek superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, more than ever. But the trade rumors loom over Giannis again.

Speaking of Antetokounmpo’s potential move to Golden State, Jeff Teague suggested, “If they trade Jimmy Butler and a couple people for Giannis. (Jonathan) Kuminga, Butler,” His co-host, DJ Wells, hilariously added to Teague’s list, “Their stadium, their parking lot.” Former NBA player Teague believes that the Warriors can trade Butler to introduce Giannis next to Curry.
While Jeff Teague’s idea might seem far-fetched, the Warriors do have a history of making bold moves – just look at their blockbuster Kevin Durant signing in 2016. However, there’s no indication from league insiders like Wojnarowski or Charania that Milwaukee is shopping Giannis at this time. Still, in an NBA where superstars move overnight, nothing can be ruled out.

Speculation suggests that the Golden State Warriors could offer a strong trade package. Teague isn’t the only one who suggested a new home for the Greek star, and neither are the Warriors the only team in question. A former Golden State Warriors player believes that the Bucks should trade Antetokounmpo to the Thunder.
Adding Giannis to the Warriors would instantly bolster their size and interior defense, addressing one of their biggest weaknesses. However, it raises legitimate spacing concerns. While Jimmy Butler (3P%: 32.7%) is also not an elite shooter, he operates effectively in Golden State’s perimeter-heavy system. Giannis (3P%: 28.3%) thrives in transition and dominates inside the paint – areas where the Warriors’ scheme doesn’t always prioritize traditional big men.

Why did Gilbert Arenas suggest Oklahoma City Thunder for Giannis Antetokounmpo?
After Victor Wembanyama’s heartbreaking season-ending injury, Lillard’s injury came as another shock for the fans. During this time, Gilbert Arenas suggested that the Bucks should look to trade their superstar. And the right place for the Greek star could be the Thunder, as per Agent Zero. He believes that the team needs the best players to replace Lillard.
Arenas pointed to Oklahoma City’s deep war chest of assets as the key reason for a potential deal. With an unprecedented stash of draft picks and a young core featuring rising stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams, the Thunder could offer Milwaukee an enticing package that few other teams can match.

“The best thing they can do is send Giannis to the only place that can change their franchise a little bit, OKC,” he suggested. Arenas argued that Milwaukee’s struggles aren’t just about injuries; they stem from an inherent market disadvantage. “No free agents are going to come there… If this was New York’s team, I can bring on two more superstars and be fine,” he added. He feels that with Giannis’ trade, the team can rebuild their roster by acquiring draft picks.
Named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, Giannis is one of the most important players on the roster. With multiple trade rumors swirling, should the Bucks consider shaking things up? And if so, is Golden State or Oklahoma City the better landing spot for Giannis? Let us know your thoughts
