Another cat video has the internet abuzz. The video has got about 50 million views and the number keeps rising. Well, what is different about this cat is its resemblance to the basketball legend Michael Jordan. We are not kidding! Netizens have flooded their social media as they continue to reshare the video. The remarkable leaping ability of a simple house cat has led social media users to believe it possesses skills akin to Jordan’s. Some even hilariously claimed that it can fly. After watching the clip, you might wonder the same thing.

The 2-year-old cat is Remi, and its owners, Julia Amidei and her boyfriend Nick, shared the video online. It left the netizens surprised to see the clip and found it amusing. While it’s certainly not Jordan, many started calling Remi the Michael Jordan of cats.”

Here is what happened. Both the owner and Nick were present at the scene of the incident. Remi was seen playing and seemed to hide behind some hanging coats. When its flatmate Luci knocked off a coat, the cat got scared, and after what appeared to be an enormous leap, the cat flew and landed on the other side of the room. Soon, Julia’s boyfriend reacted to the loud thud, as seen in the clip. Julia was also interviewed because of how popular the video has become online.

My cat has wings, Julia said about the clip and netizens’ reaction. Why do you think people called it Jordan’s move?

When the netizens saw the clip, probably, the first name that came to their mind was the Chicago Bulls legend Jordan. It is because the 6x champion played like he could fly. His Airness could stay up in the air for 0.92 seconds. Unbelievable, right? That gets more interesting when you find out about the average human hang time, which is about 0.53 seconds.

Fans would go to the Chicago Bulls game just to watch Jordan jump up as high as he could and powerfully dunk the ball. While Remi got Jordan recognition for its leap when it was scared, MJ got the cat recognition when he played fiercely on the court. Former Nike Executive Gentry Humphrey explained the reason to Nick DePaula of ESPN.

“By the guys in the league, he was called the ‘Black Cat. If you think about how he moved on the court, he was pretty relentless. Very smooth, stealthlike, but could strike at any time. It was a pretty good analogy for a player that moved like that, Humphrey said.
