Before the regular season began, reports claimed that the Dallas Mavericks were relying on the expertise of God Shammgod to combat the impending threat of Victor Wembanyama. Now the 20-year-old is well into his first NBA season and he’s serving Shammgod. Even Kevin Garnett couldn’t deny Wemby was the second coming of Shammgod.

The Big Ticket shared the moment Wemby pulled Shammgod Wells’ signature crossover dribble on Rudy Gobert in a 23-point outing. KG prominently wrote, “We see you stretchhh,” with the 100 points emoji on his Instagram Stories. His excitement however was palpable when he wrote, “Really? Soooooo… we’re just gonna act like that was nothing… MFJUST SHAMGODED (shout sham @shamgod_3) his a** at 7’5.. nah WE AIN’T SEEN THIS.. STOPP IT.. Vic aka STRETCHHH…”

Garnett added a quick shout-out to the OG, who is currently the player development coach for the Mavs. Funnily, ahead of the Mavs’ home opener against the Spurs, Shammgod tried to channel Wemby at practice to give his team a simulation of playing against the giant with an 8-foot wingspan. To match his physique, Shammgod hilariously attached long extensions to his arms and yelled, “Wemby!” repeatedly to instill the fear of the first overall draft pick in the team.

The Spurs had a close 113-112 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday in front of their home crowd. It was, however, Vic’s effortless ‘Shammgod’ on the 3x Defensive Player of the Year, that is fresh in everyone’s mind. It’s far more interesting that Gobert mentored Wemby since he was at least 13. And now his protege is pulling the nastiest crossover on him.

This incident proved that with more development, Wemby’s athleticism will improve and he’ll be harder to defend against. He’s only getting better and The Big Ticket sees big things in his future.

Kevin Garnet’s expectations for Wemby

For a brief period, Kevin Garnett was on Shaquille O’Neal’s train of thought. But after Joel Embiid’s monstrous 70-point show outshone the San Antonio Spurs, Garnett campaigned for Wemby’s redemption.

“Wemby gonna remember that,” he told Paul Pierce on KG Certified. Bringing up the fierce fight Wembanyama put up against The Process, he was confident in a couple of years, the rookie will catch up with the reigning MVP. “I would not be surprised if one day he give him a 60-ball or 50-ball off that,” he said about Wemby.

The Shammgod Wemby pulled on his mentor proved Wembanyama is expanding his skillset beyond a traditional big man position. He might just prove Kevin Garnett right and reach Embiid’s level soon. What do you think?
