It was almost a sweet disaster for the Wades this Christmas. The family usually prefers warmer weather to celebrate the festivities toward the end of the year. As such, Hawaii has been the ideal vacation destination. But this time, Dwyane Wade decided they would spend the jolly old Christmas in North Fork, Long Island. The couple had just bought a house there. So, even though it was slightly colder than what the fam would have preferred, they went with it.

That is not to say Wade did not care for his family’s comfort! The man took precautionary measures by checking his weather app, which showed a happy 35 degrees. Unfortunately, the weather turned out to be a big surprise for the family.

The chilly winds ruined their plans, turning the temperature to negative 6. Although Wade expressed his shock at the phenomenon, the Chicago native was secretly enjoying the chill to the fullest. But the same sentiment wasn’t shared by his wife, Gabrielle Union, and their youngest daughter, Kaavia.

“My wife and my daughter was not the happiest. Two ways that I’ve ever been around. They love the sun! They don’t really do all the cold,” Wade said. “[When I said] We going to have a cold Christmas, they was looking at me like ‘Why? Why are we doing this? We can come here in April; We can come here in July.’,” Wade detailed.

The mother and daughter prefer warm weather and basking in the warmth of the sun. They certainly would have preferred their usual spot. The Bring It On actress was better at concealing her emotions for photographs. While she must have preferred April or July for this Long Island trip, she enjoyed it to the fullest alongside the Miami Heat legend.

The same couldn’t be said for Kaavia, whose displeasure with the cold was visible on her face.

Union even teased Kaavia, who had her face hidden in her puff jacket. In her IG post, her mother mentioned that Kaavia preferred Hawaii. “@kaaviajames 😂😆😂 She wishes we were in Hawaii 😂😂,” Union wrote.

Perhaps she will love it when she visits during the summer when the weather isn’t too chilly. As of now, Kaavia clearly dislikes the cold.

Kaavia Wade hilariously failed Dwyane Wade’s New Year tradition

Not only was Christmas celebrated in the cold, but Dwyane Wade indulged in another New Year ritual that Kaavia didn’t seem to approve of. To kick off the New Year, Wade and his friends decided to go winter dipping in the ocean. While Union couldn’t be spotted nearby, little Kaavia was seen at the beach with her father. Wade, as seen in his IG post, was super excited and fully embraced the trend. However, Kaavia failed to do so.

As all the members ran toward the water, Kaavia, who initially tried, later dropped the hand and backed out to safety. This was shared on Wade’s IG handle. Later, Union also shared another clip focusing on Kaavia, where the person behind cheered her on to complete the tradition, but in vain.

That’s not all. One of the Wade family members also got sick after Christmas. Dwyane Wade showed a snap of his grocery list that included “Vicks Vapor Rub,” which hinted that someone caught a cold. Later, he captioned one of his IG stories, “A sick baby and snacks.” This was likely Kaavia. However, now the little one seems to be in good health. And after a good rest, the Wades must be back in action.
