Well, here’s another twist in Marcus Jordan’s legal saga. The 34-year-old son of NBA icon Michael Jordan is making headlines once again—this time for pleading not guilty to his second-degree misdemeanor DUI charge. After being arrested for driving under the influence, coc*ine possession, and resisting arrest, Marcus officially entered his plea on Friday, Feb. 7. And, unsurprisingly, fans had a lot to say about it.
According to the same legal filings from Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit Court, Marcus’ attorneys have also requested a trial by jury for the DUI charge. Interestingly, they opted to waive his initial court appearance, meaning he won’t be required to attend the first round of proceedings. His next scheduled appearance? A pretrial conference set for March 20.
Meanwhile, Marcus also pleaded not guilty to his felony charge for coc*ine possession, as well as a separate first-degree misdemeanor for resisting an officer without violence as per PEOPLE. Court records show that his legal team is also pushing for jury trials on these charges. However, a court date for these non-DUI charges hasn’t been set just yet.

This latest legal move comes shortly after Marcus was spotted leaving the Orange County jail on Feb. 4. He was released after posting a $4,000 bond. But while he might be free for now, public opinion is far from forgiving.
Fans chastize Marcus Jordan’s not-guilty plea
After news broke that Michael Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, fans took to social media with harsh criticism. “Just go into hiding you’re embarrassing yourself,” one user wrote, while another added, “Boy u embarrassing.” Many already seem convinced of his guilt, believing he’s simply trying to dodge the consequences.

But what exactly went down that night? According to police reports, Marcus was arrested in the early hours of Feb. 4 after officers in Maitland, Fla., spotted his car stopped—on train tracks. The vehicle’s lights were on, and police immediately contacted local dispatch. The response? A train was scheduled to pass through in just 10 minutes.

Marcus later told officers he had made a “wrong turn” onto the tracks. However, things got more complicated when Maitland dispatch informed police that his car had just fled from a traffic stop. When officers approached him, they noted his “bloodshot eyes,” slurred speech, and the overwhelming smell of alcohol.
And fans wasted no time reacting to that. “He must’ve been high when he pled not guilty because CLEARLY he has dr*gs on him and he was drunk as well,” one person commented, throwing in laughing emojis for good measure. Another didn’t hold back, saying, “Marcus needs an intervention.”
Adding to the chaos, Marcus Jordan admitted to officers that he had “some” drinks that night and that his last stop was a gentleman’s club. But the real kicker? A small plastic bag with a white substance was found in his pocket—and later tested positive for coc*ine.

Naturally, fans pointed out the irony. “He is wasting his privileged life. Smh,” one wrote. After all, being the son of a $3.5 billion basketball legend comes with certain expectations. While Marcus once tried to follow MJ’s footsteps on the court, he never found the same success.
Now an entrepreneur and CEO of Trophy Room, a high-end sneaker boutique, his estimated net worth sits at around $2 million. But with this case unfolding, all eyes are on what happens next.
