“I need all youre fuc–ng prayers 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼.” Laura Govan, the mother of Alijah Arenas, asked for support on social media. It seems the prayers of Gilbert Arenas’ ex have worked, as their son is making a recovery after the terrible car crash. At 4:56 a.m. on Thursday, a cyber truck rammed into a fire hydrant and a tree. The person identified behind the wheel was Alijah, and he rushed to the hospital, where he was kept in an artificially induced coma to aid his recovery.
A family representative reached out to ESPN with the update about the 18-year-old. “In a remarkable and hopeful development, Alijah Arenas has come out of his coma and has shown significant signs of progress within the last 24 hours,” the statement said. “However, he’s still intubated.” Further, the statement also indicated that the five-star recruit also inquired if there were any potential injuries to others.
“Alijah opened his eyes and was able to write on a piece of paper that he remembered the smoke and asked, “Did anyone get hurt?” Sending more support to the family was ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. “Thank God that he’s okay. This is one of the terrific prep players in the nation that a lot of people believe is going to be very, very special.”

On the recent broadcast of First Take with Molly Qerim, SAS said he was hopeful about Alijah’s father working at ESPN soon. “Gilbert Arenas obviously has been on this show he’ll be back on this show assuming everything continues to work and his son recovers in a speedy fashion. Thank the good Lord he (Alijah) survived, he’s okay.”

Even Agent Zero previously hinted at joining ESPN. But those updates for him and his family won’t matter much as Alijah is overcoming his own battles. The ex-Warriors star owns the car that his son drove. Videos about the incident went viral, as the onlookers helped the 18-year-old out of his car as it caught fire.
Alijah Arenas’ son’s update brings relief
Ever since the crash, there have been very few positive updates. The first report from the LA Times indicates that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash. Then, ESPN’s Shams Charania also added that USC basketball signee did not suffer from any broken bones. But then the update about Alijah in induced coma shook the fans and the NBA community. However, it was a mere protocol that was followed.

SI reporter Tarek Fattal added the insight that the reasoning behind Arenas’ induced coma was due to smoke inhalation from the fire caused by the accident. Everyone was waiting for Gilbert Arenas or family members to bring some positive update. A source close to Agent Zero did so. “For everyone hitting me about Gilbert Arenas’ son being in a serious accident, Gilbert just hit me back and said his son is doing good and should be fine.” This was DJ Vlad, who has multiple times conducted interviews with the ex-NBA star on his YouTube channel.
Apart from this, Gilbert Arenas’ 15-year-old thanked the community for the emotional support. “Thank you guys so much for the prayers it means a lot to us. I’ll get back to everyone as soon as I can!!❤️” Hamiley Arenas, a basketball prodigy herself, wrote the update on Instagram yesterday. The family is appreciating every prayer since yesterday, as Alijah Arenas is getting better
