Unnerved About Encountering Kris Jenner, Jack Harlow, and More, Gabrielle Union Shares Heartfelt Met Gala Anecdote

Can you imagine someone as bold as Gabrielle Union being nervous about something? From what she revealed in an exclusive interview with ‘People’, she actually is. And it’s one of the most common kinds of nervousness felt by people—the feeling of being alone in a crowd of the unknown. The 51-year-old actress stated she feels confident on the Met Gala red carpet. But to have to interact with unknown people inside is a different game.

“It can be a little nerve-wracking if you don’t know everyone at your table or something like that… But I’ve also made more friends in those situations. That gave me so much anxiety,” she told ‘People’. One instance of her making friends in a similar instance, as stated by her, was her encounter with Kris Jenner, Jack Harlow, and Tommy Hilfiger at her Met Gala table. Notably, she was not well-acquainted with any of them. But she still left the event with some friends, as she claims.

“I sat at a table with Jack Harlow before he was Jack Harlow, and Tommy Hilfiger and all these different people and Kris Jenner,” Gabrielle recalled. “I left there with friends and I left there feeling like, ‘Wow, this table somehow sees me and understood me more than some tables that are paid to know me and understand me,” she added.

Gabrielle Union further detailed this feeling of nervousness in her interview with ‘People’. She revealed that she leans into the experiences, but the industry that she is in rarely allows for people to experience an environment where they can grow and expand in their discomfort and not be centered in almost everything. However, despite all of this, Gabrielle has an undying love for the Met Gala red carpet.

Gabrielle Union’s last Met Gala appearance and her plans for 2024

It is worth mentioning that the 51-year-old appeared at the Met Gala, in 2023, with her husband Dwyane Wade. The couple wore Prada to the event. Union donned a red chiffon gown along with a matching leather. Meanwhile, Wade went all-black with his outfit as he donned a Panama mohair coat with matching pants and gloves. The media reports back then had stated the duo to be one of the best dressed at the event.

As far as the 2024 Met Gala is concerned, Union gave some hints while speaking to ‘Extra’s’ Tommy DiDario. Speaking at the NYC premiere of ‘The Idea of You’, Union agreed that she and Dwyane Wade absolutely serve when it comes to the Met Gala.

“More serving. On theme. We will just be on theme,” she said about her plan for this year’s Met Gala. Now it is to be seen what exactly Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade come up with this year.
