A match-up with Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan on the court wasn’t sweet for most. Seldom did anyone out-duel the 6x NBA champion during his playing days. Catching a glimpse of His Airness outside the court is even more of a rarity, though. Nonetheless, for Dwyane Wade, it was a whole different story. The 3x NBA champion once shared an amusing incident of his first-ever meet-up with MJ. However, the twist and turns in this story are the highlight which has sent many into denial.

The Miami Heat legend shared the disrespect MJ had to go through, that too in his own hometown, in order to meet him. In a story that happened in Wade’s initial year in the NBA, it looks like the 6x champion hinted at passing the torch!

Former ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols couldn’t believe the story, something she mentioned at the beginning of her months-old interview with The Flash. Thus, Wade decided to define the meet-up scene by scene in order to increase his credibility.

The 2006 Finals MVP shared, “Why it ain’t true?… It’s my cousin, in the party… He came up to me and he said, ‘Bro Michael Jordan is here.'” However, the Miami Heat icon thought he was joking. Wade added, “I’m thinking he[Wade’s cousin] is playing games with me.”

“He’s like, ‘Bro I’m not playing’… So we beeline out the club. Right out the doors. It’s a slew of motorcycles. And Michael Jordan is sitting there in one of the motorcycles. I run right up to him, it was like seeing a ghost.” Here comes the best part! “He[MJ] was like, ‘I came up here to come and show you some love.’ He felt the way.”

One may wonder what Jordan was doing outside the club. Well, for starters, the NBA icon was denied entry to the club. Just like others, Wade also had the question, “Don’t know why they didn’t let Mike in.” However, Wade also revealed MJ had 50 other people with him.

Moreover, this incident happened in the city MJ called home for most of his playing career. For more than a decade, the 5x MVP was worshipped in Chicago. Sadly, that day, Jordan had to face disrespect in his own city, that too in front of many just to give Wade his flowers.
