Scottie and Larsa married in 1997, filed for separation in 2016 and finalized their divorce in 2021 after briefly getting back together. Scottie and Larsa Pippen ended their 20-year-long relationship for good that year. After their divorce was finalized, details of the divorce settlement surfaced. According to The Blast’s expose, Larsa made away with half of Scottie’s retirement fund.
Because they were married for most of Pip’s NBA career, the court deemed Larsa entitled to half of the 401k the Chicago Bulls gave him.
This is not uncommon. The Lead Attorney from the popular YouTube channel appeared on VladTV. According to the veteran lawyer, this is a normal ruling. The attorney said that Larsa and Scottie had a “long-term marriage.” They’re parents to four children – Scotty Jr., Preston, Justin, and Sophia.
The youngest, Sophia, is the only minor. Scottie Pippen also has three more adult children from previous relationships.
“So a lot of people, especially women would say, ‘Hey you know if you’re with a dude for 20 years and gave him four kids you kind of deserve half, right?‘” TLA responded to the question. That’s been the common legal consensus as Larsa and Scottie’s relationship lasted during most of the latter’s professional NBA career.
Scottie Pippen attempted to save his assets
California law splits 401k in the absence of prenups. But Scottie and Larsa reportedly did have a prenup. Both sides dragged the legal battle with Scottie trying to eliminate spousal support. TLA said that Scottie could have saved himself a lot of trouble and money if he was “smart” and “gotten a prenup.”

The consequence was losing half his retirement. Now Scottie recently signed an alimony reform bill so he doesn’t have to pay Larsa any more millions.
According to TLA, “Scottie actually made a motion to the court to change his prenup such that she [Larsa] could not get alimony.” He also attempted to get full custody of their children who were all minors at the time they filed for divorce in 2016.
Scottie failed on both ends. TLA can’t comment on the nuances of the Pippens’ prenup, but he apparently doesn’t think Scottie is handling the prenup situation well.
